Yeah I read somewhere these Japanese Goonies back then were not worried about the US and European competition bc battling with other Japanese companies were very tough. Meaning if they proved themselves in the Japanese market, everything else was downhill from there. Maybe why many of these units still hold up and made so well. They probably only need a new tape belt if they were taken care of since new almost 40 years ago.
They made them a little different each year or so and. Had the FM16 and the FM 27 and one replaced the other and has some changes, I think this one has a tv tuner.

In my humble opinion these number of boosts & X-Bass don't help this plastic box to sound well. But Looks pretty nice!
