  • "Life becomes much more fulfilling when we practice working and playing with complete presence", says Shawn Green on redefining the relevance of our life.
Shawn Green's Major League Baseball career spanned fifteen seasons with four teams: the Toronto Blue Jays, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the New York Mets. During his baseball career, he won numerous accolades including both the American League Gold Glove Award and the Silver Slugger in '99.
He finished in the top ten of voting for league MVP three times and was named the L.A. Sportsman of the Year for his 2002 season. But, statistics tell only part of the story.
His path to success was as grounded in philosophical study as in baseball wisdom.
Striving to find stillness within the scene of Major League Baseball, Green learned to approach the sport with a clear mind. This approach transformed him as a player, as a family man, and as a post-career athlete transitioning into other paths.
He retired from baseball at 34 to spend time with his wife, Lindsay, and their two daughters.
    About TEDx.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level.
At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos -- or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos -- sparks deep conversation and connections. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.

What he doesn't mention was that later on, he cut short at age 34 a potential (albeit an outside shot) Hall of Fame career because he wanted to watch his daughters grow up. Can you imagine the self-esteem that must have instilled in his girls, knowing that they were that important to him? That sort of awes me. A well-rounded individual, there.

Green is pretty okay. He's a smart guy. In Toronto Green and Delgado were the brains of the team.

Shawn Green was the first Dodger I was truly in awe with. What a stud. The good old days. Ironically enough, watching this the same night Kenley Janson gives up game 4 of the 2020 World Series lol.

My fav baseball player as a kid! I was born in 89, and in 99 watching what I remember to be my fist game with
My dad, I became a Shawn Green fan after seeing him hit those two bombs in 99!
I had the pleasure to meet him in 05, and get his autograph, and he’s such an awesome man! Loves his fans and takes his time with us! I remember being so shocked he laughed and asked if I wanted a pic with him as I was obviously so nervous meeting my baseball player as a kid. I was able to catch a foul ball in batting Practice, and he signed it for me ! Only thing I regret is asking him if he’d sign the middle! He seemed alittle bothered, like if I’d try to sell it, or maybe I over thought it as meeting my fav baseball player at the age of 14 was mind blowing! But I hope he knows that from all my Dodgers memorabilia ive gotten thru the years, he treasure his autograph on that ball the most and I’d never get rid of it!
Thank you for the memory Shawn! You don’t remember me but I’ll never forget you! Meeting you made me a baseball game for life! I was discouraged after meeting Jeff Kent and he wanted nothing to do with me, he ended up signing my jersey cuz everyone booed him, which he didn’t have too and I appreciate him for actually signing my jersey! But Shawn! You made me a true fan, I thought I was a fan but meeting you showed me how much you cared for your fans! And I will always appreciate you! I’m 32 now, but you made an impact on me and I credit you and thank you tor making me a real baseball fan!

Shawn's book, The Way of Baseball: Finding Stillness At 95 MPH, is a must read. The best baseball book I've ever read. Subsequent to its publication, he was instructed in the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique.
