    I've never been really interested in catcuses but I just got my own first ones this year. I'm just very appreciative of the tactile attributes of plants, and you can't really touch many cacti. Lol. They are beautiful for sure. Also, at the end of the growing season, I plan on putting all my cacti together in a single pot to reduce the care load. That's one VERY cool thing about them, their care is all pretty similar and they can be made into a little cacti garden.

    Cactus are the best!!! It's so awesome how many ways you can propagate them and they actually grow crazy fast when they are happy !

    Hey Pete. I don't share your love of Cacti but love your passion and excitement.. Have you ever wondered why plants have crazy names. Do you think the people who name them are sitting around tables high as kites saying lets give these plants names most people can not pronounce or spell

    • @petevsplants7516
      @petevsplants7516  Před rokem +1

      Hey Margi. Haha I think a big reason is people are trying to be unique, interesting, and also focus on the interesting aspects of a plant when naming it. Scientists often try to pick out key features to help name it.

    Hey Pete, just be very careful when you propagate euphorbias. They contain this white latex like sap, and some are extremely toxic. I work in a greenhouse, and we always wear gloves when handling the euphorbias, but one of our volunteers got some in there on and had to go to the hospital. Other than that, they are just like cacti. Chop them and let them callous over, and then a nice rocking mix will do just fine :)

    • @petevsplants7516
      @petevsplants7516  Před rokem

      Far out... Yeah, I've heard the latex is pretty bad if you get it on your skin, let alone somewhere like in your eyes. I'll try and be careful if and when I prop them :D

  • @Malgate

    Pete, another great video. The smaller pups growing out from Echeveria should have roots and the mother plant you can grow from the leaf itself. Lay on potting mix or in water and should send out roots
    Thanks

He says I'm going cold turkey, I'm not getting my PvP time. I'm not supposed to just stop, it's advisable to wean myself slowly, especially when Pete has a holiday. (Which you deserve btw).
