Even if he did take from MJ, Hakeem and other great players, so what? It made him one of the greatest scorer ever, if not the greatest. It’s one of the dumbest things I’ve seen people say to minimize Kobe’s greatness
HOT DAMN. Been a Kobe fan since 2000, but only now do I fully appreciate the beauty of his post game now that I'm older and have higher basketball IQ. Back then, all I could see was the ball going into the basket. Now I see the amazing head/shoulder/eye fakes, the pivots, how he shields the ball with his body etc. KOBE IS THE BEST NON-BIG MAN POST PLAYER OF ALL-TIME
The most impressive thing about this video was just how underrated Kobe's strength was. He's pushing bigger guys back on their heels and yet is quick enough to prevent the smaller guys from stealing the ball. His workouts and fundimental training was top notch
His IQ is greater. If the defender is pushing with equal or greater strength, he'll just spin around them with ease. But yes, his strength is underrated for sure.
One of my favorite things about Kobes game is the way he manipulates the game to go the speed he goes. He takes his time and doesn't rush anything, a very fundmentally versed playert
I can't believe the arsenal of shots he has. He is fully aware of his body position and is able to adapt with full precision. I am watching true Basketball.
@@TheULMOnaut ummm, there's not many hakeem if u only look at kobe's fadeaway (but hakeem had fadeaway actually). the fades were more likely from jordan. yet, kobe did have footwork from hakeem, in form of a guard version. the spin, the shimmy shake. one of the kobe's signatures, which throw the ball to the board and put it back by himself again, also involved footwork in my opinion.
TheULMOnaut. Wow someone is in denial. It's apparent by your comment you didn't even watch the video. Why would you? People don't usually invest in things they hate.
Kobe and the baseline is poetry in motion... his footwork in the post is simply beautiful. All those years and teams never took away baseline... 😂🤦🏽♂️
The greatest mid post player, had great defenders on him every game and still couldn't be stopped. Guys like AK47, Artest, Battier, Doug Christie, Kidd, Barnes, Sefolosha, Marion, Prince, Pippen, Tony Allen, Raja Bell, and so many more but it didn't matter..........Mamba
After watching the training videos he did with Hakeem I can safely say he made that baseline spin move his own. He worked on what he learned and put his on style in it. The last piece of greatness from the old generation is now gone, makes me tear :'(
He's one of the most if not the most all around complete offensive player I've ever seen. He had no flaws and he could score at will against any team on any given day.
Incredible how ppl can throw out advanced stats (totally valuable and useful tool when contextualized w/ film) like TS% to discredit Kobe forgetting how diff the league is today vs the majority when he played and the scheme of that offense. This guy was giving you elite level efficiency out of post plays on crazy high usage and he was doing so largely without any schemed or designed switches. He was getting straight buckets on his primary defender straight out of iso, all while drawing consistent doubles . We’ve all seen the constant back and froths between Kobe and greats like Battier, MWP, Bowen, Prince etc. In today’s switch heavy/high p&r style spread offenses, imagine guys like Curry, Harden, Westbrook, Kyrie, Lillard on an island against Kobe fucking Bryant... No, he wasn’t always as willing as he should’ve been to pass lol but again, in his era, breaking down your man in the midrange WAS the best shot or at the very least made you the baddest dude on the court. Had Kobe came up like the guys we compare him too now w/ advanced analytics alone, how can anyone argue he wouldn’t absolutely dominate on both sides of the ball, much like we see Kawhi doing today? Imagine Kobe in place of James Harden for example. No shade to Harden who’s been EATING btw. You’re basically getting Kawhi Leonard w/ his offensive sliders slightly higher and defensive sliders slightly lower in place of Harden who doesn’t play much defensive (understandably). For Kobe to be as great as he is, he gets way too much disrespect and false narratives from the media and fans smh. Dope video, bruh ✊🏾

That’s why kobe is commonly referred as the most skilled player in nba history because he could score any and every way he wanted to, footwork is second to none, post, defense. Kobe had it all

Difference between Jordan, Kobe, and Lebron, is that Jordan and Kobe learned how to master post move footwork as they grow older that is why they remain effective even when playing against younger athletes. Lebron is still trying to power his way to a next championship and he is not efficient enough to make another run.
I was a Kobe fan BEFORE he got drafted, and I'm still amazed looking back at this footage. It's been quite awhile since I looked at Kobe footage. Kobe's achilles heel in his career was shot selection. He simply did not give a fuck, and it would seem the more difficult the shot was, the more he wanted to shoot it. It hurt his efficiency, and ultimately hurt his overall scoring numbers. Take that one thing away from him, and his career numbers improve significantly.
Thanks for this. He took what Jordan could do in the post and sort of remixed it. He wasnt better or worse than jordan in the post, but he just adjusted it in a different way. I would love if some of these bigger super freak athletic guards would spend a week with kobe learning how to slow down their game and make better decisions to make them more efficient for their team. We see Westbrook and Derozon start to post up players, and they get lost at times on what to do when someone is not letting them go to their first move. And im sure kobe would be willing to help them out.
Kobe is incredible and High IQ player. Notice the elbow (neither the right or left elbows) prevent any defenders from coming close to Kobe's committed attacks direction. Here the example I am saying: Kobe dribbling the ball with his left hand, his right arm turn to a 90° angle (which give that extra strength) with his right arm at that angle defenders will feel that hit from the elbow blow(s). This alone give him the space he needs to execute the committed moves or arsenals. Blows my mind I never knew this when I was younger.
That drop step baseline works so often, I studied it and added it to my game and I want to say 9 times out of 10 the defender will lean to far towards the free throw line instead of baseline. It’s important to pay attention the footwork as well as this gets the defenders weight even further committed to the inside, just slow the video down and you will see.
right. but he still wanna do what he been doing bc thats what he knows: taking contested shots. can't get the same lift as before for that with them rusty legs
alejandrothefader I think he slimmed down after 2003 and 2005 where he was a bulkier player. 2006 he was slim till the end. But he did look a little thinner at the end
Most people would say he copied Jordan’s moves. He did, but took it to the next level. Kobe easily has the best post moves of all time.

He also learned from Olajuwon. In terms of offensive arsenal, Kobe was the most skilled player in history.

It’s important to pay attention the footwork as well as this gets the defenders weight even further committed to the inside, just slow the video down and you will see.
Kobe the goat. He can score against anybody, all against great defenders, and this is just a video on post offense.
Amazing foot work. They don't teach post moves any more.
Rest in peace Mamba ❤️
This video is amazing. Thanks for this my guy! Rip Kobe 🙏🏾
kobe is still alive to me.
RIP MAMBA

P E R F E C T I O N
20:02 was beautiful... kobe knew it was going in
real art of offence, can see it any more now. This videos is just textbook
u mean "can't?"
If Kobe would have done this in his last year. Just posting up guys. He would have had a much better final season
right. but he still wanna do what he been doing bc thats what he knows: taking contested shots. can't get the same lift as before for that with them rusty legs
alejandrothefader I think he slimmed down after 2003 and 2005 where he was a bulkier player. 2006 he was slim till the end. But he did look a little thinner at the end
Phenomenal compilation. Well done, sir!
Lebron was scared of him, lol. The master of footwork.
Plz put respect on lbj's name
That’s why kobe isn’t top 5 lol master of greatness
