    I personally like the fact that HARLEY is finally making more modern bikes. It's about time.

    Just bought my own and I love it, exhaust to me is awful sounding but overall is really nice. Traded in a 2018 Fat Bob for this, and I can say the heat coming off this is sooo minor compared to the fat bob.

      Hi, I hope you see this message, but can I ask how much you paid out the door price and roughly where do you live? I live near Dallas Texas and I am seriously thinking about trading in my 17 R6 for one now that I am getting older.

    • @maglor124

      @@clubtc05 hey, I ended up paying about 19k out the door. I did love the bike but after 1k miles I have several complaints. But coming from an R6 you should be good to go. The 2.5in rear suspension is rough, but coming from the sportbike should not be bad at all. I ran into issues with mine related to water. So, I got water in the CPU connectors and it fried some stuff, it was covered under warranty but after I saw the battery and a large portion of the electrical system is in the bottom front of the bike behind the radiator kind of made me second guess this bike for longer over the road trips. Overall the bike was great, power was amazing and the tech in the bike and the tuning you can do with just the built-in computer in the gauge cluster made it real fun to mess with. I am getting a bit older myself and will end up getting more of a cruiser then a sporter as I will spend more time on the bike just cruising. But if you can get one for a good price I would say go for it. Harley has some quality stuff, and if you have issues they will take care of you.

    Love it! I’ve test ridden them. They’re a blast! I think I will buy the Pan America though because I like the versatility it provides. I already own and ride a Limited and ride on average about 20k miles per year. For a second bike, the PA opens some new doors/gates.

    I bought the new FAT BOB in 2018. It was the white Bonneville Salt. I loved that bike. The rear fender was bobbed as you might imagine and the mud would actually be thrown all over the mirrors it was that bad. But that bike really was a sound package. This new Horizontal headlight as the BOB had is the same on this S Sportster. My thinking is this is waaaaaaaaay tooooooo expensive to be an entry level motorcycle for Harley-Davidson and will effectively run most people out to buy the Milwaukee 8 or go buy a Metric brand they can actually afford. Very sad. Yes, it will perform, and why shouldn't it? It has a liquid cooled motor that is state of the art even better than the newest BMW 1250 motors. So, for performance and horse power you SHOULD get this. But going fast on a chunky bike like this is of very little value. Harley is moving away from servicing the entry level rider, the new rider, the shorter rider (this is taller than the previous sportsters and no low rider seat will fit) and the price is out of sight. Sorry Harley. You swung and you missed. I've owned 52 motorcycles over 16 years with a new BMW R18 Classic, Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled and a Steve McQueen Triumph Scrambler 1200XE in the stable now. Many, many, many Harley's and yes I've test ridden for a few hours and many miles the new Harley PanAm. Overall, Harley is doing a great job and the new CEO is smart. Are they reinventing themselves to become something other than what Willie G. and the old boys built, yes. Will this work? Who knows.

    The Sportster 48 was a very uncomfortable machine to ride. Loved the look, fun for a bit until my body said NO! This is a bar hopper, short ride to the coffee shop bike and about a 45 minute ride in the canyons or mountain twisties. My FAT BOB was much more comfortable and had a great windshield, about $2,500.00 in additional work for bars and cruise control and proper seating position and that bike made a great canyon carver. Will this new Sportster work for a trailer queen going to a location where you can bop around and ride like a sport bike and carve? Most likely yes it will. But why not buy a Kawasaki or Yamaha or Suzuki?

  • @MrChancebozey
    @MrChancebozey Před 2 lety +1

    On California roads this was a nightmare to ride. The short travel stiff suspension spot lighted the crappy stock riding position and baby sized hand grips. Uncomfortable pain. The bike I rode had the front tire worn round instead of having the advertised peak so it was a slug to maneuver. Not flickable. The rear brakes were non existent as in I could not tell if they even did anything. You could definitely feel the heat from the exhaust on your leg. Noticeably uncomfortable. The overall experience might have been a little better if it had mid controls and adult sized hand grips but it wasn't because it didn't. I was looking forward to the test ride and came away very disappointed.

      I think opposite. It will bring new generation of bikers. Lets admit that majority of HD riders are getting old. Young people don't care much about tradition. They want the best of technology they can buy. That is why Japanese bikes sell very well around the globe. So yes I think it is about time HD joins modern times with new ideas.
