Oh, wow! I had that growing right outside my bedroom window at my childhood home. It grew right around my Rio Samba rose shading it out so I was constantly trying to pull it out and kill it. I could never get rid of it. The deer were constantly sleeping in it, and used to scare me thinking they were prowlers. We sold the house. I bet the new occupants trying to get rid of it looked it up and googled first weather or not they could smoke it.

I have so much of this wonderful plant growing in my back patio. I brought a tinny stem from my parents house and once it grew a root I had it transplanted on to a small area I have in my back patio, now it had invaded the entire area. It’s okay because I love how it smells and I love its bitter flavor.

I agree, It's the rare type of plant that is invasive but I still can't help but like it. It's on almost every property around here is southern CT. Very abundant.

you are so lucky. In my backyard Mugwort grows badly, something wrong with soil I guess, I was working so hard few years in a row and only this summer one bush survived, giving amazing aroma around it and creating great view on my Roses and gladioluses next to it. Hopefully, it will survive and next year I will have more bushes of mugwort. I love the smell and leaves shape on this amazing plant too.

It could be mugwort, it doesn't always taste good but it does a have a distinct musty herby fragrance. Also you might have had ragweed growing which isn't highly toxic but isn't really considered edible.
