I've been wanting to work with Mary for quite a while now, and when I finally got an off day on her side of the Atlantic she was kind enough to invite me over to record. I have always loved this Leonard Cohen tune and thought it would suit Mary's voice. We were both getting over colds when we taped this, but when you've only got one day you do what you can.
I drew inspiration for the arrangement from Lianne LaHavas and Chilly Gonzalez's version, as well as from Judy Collins' rendition of "Suzanne."

About Josh Turner Guitar
Josh began making CZcams videos in 2007. Ranging from popular to esoteric, local to far flung, and playful to serious, Josh’s videos offer a little something for everyone. Josh also performs regularly with long-time collaborator, Carson McKee, as the folk duo The Other Favorites. Josh’s first full-length solo album, As Good A Place As Any, was released in April 2019.

Say what you want about the oft-maligned algorithm, it managed to bring two of my favorite musicians on CZcams together, whom I discovered on two completely independent paths. Even 20 years ago, this possibility would be nothing short of a miracle, but today we can bring two harmonious talents in a cacophonous sea together. What a fantastic time to be alive.

Josh turner is the best musician my opinion that I’ve seen on CZcams. Not because he’s a master at anything (although he’s really good at everything) but because he can do so many different things, and he makes such great videos. He’s just so good at being different.
