    If you assemble and shape the handle dry with just a dab of super glue to keep it together, you can disassemble it, etch the entire blade. Then epoxy scales at the end, using acetone to carefully wipe off any squeeze out. I do this on damascus full tang knives because it is impossible to etch correctly afterwards. Just a tip!

    Ferric chloride will not hurt your hands, however it will stain them a lovely shade of yellow. So for that reason use gloves. I like the simplicity of this knife, it's a good looking cutter. File steel gets a bit of a bad rep but, I've made some great knives with it and for hobby knife makers like myself it's readily available, and really cheap option if you have a flea market nearby.

    Newbie question. How long do you leave the knife in the forge so it's soft enough to drill holes in it? How did you get the large hole drilled through the file?

    • @theriversexperience9383
      @theriversexperience9383  Před 2 lety +1

      It's all good. It's more military inspired in color and finish. The actual use for this knife is for hunting and skinning. They just wanted a military theme. When it comes to strength, I test all my knives by chopping through a 2x4 twice plus I drive the tip into the 2x4 and pop out a piece of wood with the tip, this knife passed with flying colors.
