Mccluskieganj has a rich history since pre independence. Once upon a time 400 Anglo Indian families stayed at Mccluskieganj and this place since then is known as Mini London Of India or Mini England Of India. Those Anglo Indian families are no more there apart from a few but their colony, their bungalows still do exist.
Not only the history but Mccluskieganj in Ranchi district of Jharkhand is a wonderful place in itaelf with bounty of natural beauty and you can spend a wonderful weekend there with your family and friends in an excellent climate. The place do not have that much tourist rush till now so you can spend time here in leisurely manner at isolation. This can be a wonderful weekend destination from Kolkata for you.
In March 2024 we visited Mccluskieganj along with Lohardaga.

When i visited, it was a spooky decrepit old place, which had lost all its charm, the haunt of maoists, with angry naxals and resentful jharkandis glaring suspiciously at you. I ran out of there as fast as i could as a guy at the guesthouse warned me they kidnap people for ransom.
