Principles of Cancer Pain Management

Cancer pain is different from the management of benign pain. Cancer pain is called total pain with components like psychological pain, spiritual pain, financial pain, social pain, etc. Thus, cancer pain is difficult to treat.
WHO ladder in cancer pain management was published in the 1980s, and it is still relevant and beginners must follow it. Opioid rotation, breakthrough pain, incidental pain are other important terminologies.
Interventional pain management and neurolytic procedures are also very important in cancer pain management and in certain types of cancer pain management they are the first choce.
