Fantastic find....but...
Every time you wipe the dirt off with a muddy thumb, you put scratches on it.
More scratches = less valuable.
1. Handle it by the edge.
2.Wait till you get home.
3. rince in soapy water.

I have not been able to get out metal detecting for a few years now and really miss it, even though most of my finds seemed to be tractor parts and horse shoes - probably the biggest collection in Lancashire, Lol. I envy you guys located in the southern part of the UK (I am guessing) with seemingly the richer pickings compared with my Pendle area. A very few Roman coins have been found round about. I must say, I took my wedding ring off when detecting - the only times I ever did. Very nice to see this video. Wishing you continued good luck, although you don't seem to need it!

Just got our caravan on seasonal pitch near Lytham At Anne's where there seems to be quite a lot of Common Land to explore with an old fort site and shooting range giving up musket balls. Even the big green in front of the windmill. Local archivist says can get me on Lytham Hall grounds with 82 acres so that would give me plenty to go at! Just sent of for my MCND card so looking forward to getting out and about again, despite the aches and pains of a 70_something-year old.

expat down under, i always wondered in any stretch of imagination in what circumstance would someone carry a big denomination coin to what may have been a farm field even back then,cows,sheep, even horses would have been no where near a crown,and if you were buying a few you would need a big cart to get them home,great coin.
