  • This video is a response to the much asked question: "How did you make that awesome tape dispenser?!" The spalted fiddle back maple tape dispenser seen at the beginning of this video has been seen in a few other videos so it was time to make a couple more for the other tape widths I have lying around. I made the two in this video from some scrap figured maple and padauk among a few other things like cherry, teak, plywood, used saw blades, and 1/4" copper pipe. This was the perfect opportunity to use some of the things that would have just been tossed out.
    This design is not my own, though. It was inspired from the tape dispenser I found in an issue of WOOD Magazine. You can find that article from searching "tape dispenser" at the magazine's website and purchase the plans there. But if you are handy this video is all you need.

      +Braxton Wirthlin thanks, Braxton! Yeah that was another reason to make the dispensers. I had some scraps that needed to go. It didn't make too much of a dent but it helped and it gave some tape rolls a home.

      @SeanRubino  Před 7 lety

      Thanks, Nate! I felt pretty good about the soundtrack selection too. I considered just having the shop sounds and a slightly longer video but after watching it over and over it didn't feel right. I then decided to go with a faster paced video and I found that track which was complimentary I felt.

    Great looking tape dispensers , I made a few for the shop and found out once I switched tape rolls they wouldn't fit the disc that holds them . I got the new roll to fit by removing a wrap of the inner core . I'm not sure but perhaps each manufacture has a different size inner core , something to keep in mind if anyone wants to make one like this .

    • @SeanRubino
      @SeanRubino  Před 7 lety

      +Jerry Sateriale thanks, thats a good observation. If the rolls are too small for the plywood discs you can always make another disc too. They are really simple and quick to make.

    Nice build quality but the design is not practical as there is no opening to grab tape on a subsequent dispense. Looks nice though.
