I've done three photo sessions with the sigma 30mm and I love it! For video I like to use it for stabilizer shots. The images I've taken are with a Panasonic gx85 and for video I've used it with a g9
i have the 56 and the 30 .. and well they work about the same i think.. just different focal lengths. I will say i like the compressed tele look of the 56 more but the 30 is more practical in a lot of situations.
@@FabledFew I'm waiting on an old Pen F lens to show up. The 42 1.2. Thats going to be amazing on my digital Pen F. If you ever get your hands on one, I'd love to see you review it. Blessings!!
Hi I'm looking for a good lens for general photography/street photography not just portraits. I don't like wide angle lens very much. I often take photos of my dog and I find that I get too much background with wider lens. Do you think this would be suitable for me? I have the olympus 45mm 1.8 that I love.
Hello. If you think the 45mm is too tight, then this 30mm would be definitely be wider and more general purpose. If you have a zoom lens that covers 30mm, test out the focal length and see if you like it.
I have only tested the PanaLeica 25mm in a Panasonic showroom, so I don't have comprehensive test knowledge to draw from. It's a nice lens, but it's one of the older MFT lenses, so its focus is not as fast as the newer Panasonic lenses. I would say it would be on par with the Sigma 30mm. The Sigma is a bit bigger, but I prefer its tighter focal length, as explained in the video.
hello and congratulations on your video. I write from Italy, I am inexperienced and I am forced to use AF for my video clips. I have a GH5 and I fell in love with this Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens. but since the GH5 uses contrast focus, which seems to be not compatible with this lens, I would like to ask you for advice: is it really not recommended to use this lens for videos if you intend to use AF only? The focus is really much slower and more complicated than a normal 25mm 1.7 Panasonic? Thanks for your suggestions
Hello, and thank you for watching! It really depends on what type of shot you're doing. If there's a lot of movement, it does tend to get confused and lose focus. However, more static shots will be fine. Note that autofocus works a lot better in 4K60 than other frame rates.
@@FabledFew ok in the meantime, thank you for your kind reply. Normally I don't shoot big movements these are music videos on my tracks. I'm sending you a link below. I am a musician. Anyway, thanks you reassured me. I already have a Panasonic 15mm and an Olympus 25mm. @@FabledFew dear friend, in the meantime, thank you for your availability. Since you are an expert, I ask you a trivial question for you but as you will have understood I am not an expert and I can not find the solution: when you are in AFF video mode how do you enable the lens ring in order to move the focus from one point to another? Practically as it is set, if I turn the ring does not change the focus I have to go and click on the touch screen ... Instead I would like to do it with the lens ring, also because on my Ronin SC combo I have the focus motor. I state that on the menu I have already activated AF + MF but it does not work. what else do i need to adjust? Thanks for your help
Your intro music is way way way too loud. I was almost moved to watch something else, which would have been too bad since you have some useful comments to make.

It is a great lens! Very unique field of view. I quite like it.
i currently shoot portraits with a G85, this lens is a solid buy? (i have the panasonic 25mm f1.7)
Wonderful review 💕💕 well made
Thanks for watching!
Just received this lens yesterday. Looks amazing for night time photos. Looking forward to working with it more.
Nice review! Seems like a really solid lens for sure.
Wow... so great video and thanks for going finally to the point...!!! Please review also the 56mm...!!
Thank you for watching! I will try to get a hold of one. :)

I own this lens on a G85 but I've noticed that AF often lets me down in video, and it's also quite soft in stills.
I love the compressed look of a telephoto lens, this is why i want the 56mm more than the 30mm.
This Lens is great! sigma 16mmf1.4&sigma 30mmf1.4&M.zuiko 45mmf1.8・・I can take everything!
To me, the dof is weak. Not nearly washed out as what a 1.4 should be. Excellent review brother.
Well, it's MFT after all. Thank you!

▪︎☆▪︎. 30mm 1.4 Sigma - is my favorite for my Canon APC / T6i ... the colors / the look that it creates. AMAZING 👏
hello, how is the autofocus in video????
Still an Excellent review!

Do i need an adapter for it with bmpcc 4@
No, it works natively.
How does it compare to the native Panasonic 25 mm / 1.4 ? The Panasonic lens is more compact, and as you've mentioned AF works best with native lenses

Sigma is much better. I sold my panasonic 25mm to get the Sigma and I don't regret it
@@FabledFew thanks. In 2019 Panasonic released a mark II of the 25/1.4, probably to adress the AF issue.
@@SebastianReick Yes. They did. The one I tested was the older version. The new version also has weather-sealing.

Since you already have a 25mm, I would suggest getting a new focal length. This 30mm would definitely be a good choice!

Is manually focusing nice and easy , or very long turn?
It is focus by wire, so there are no hard stops and the turn depends on how fast you turn the ring.
My lovely lens😍😍😍
In the unboxing video I was thinking
Mohammad, I love your nails! 🤣
Hahaha.
Does sigma 30mm lens fits for panasonic lumix g7
Yes it does!
Can I use the same lens for my G80
Sure you can.

That’s weird because I try to make sure everything is at 0 db, but I’ll make a note on that. Thank you for watching.
nah
too big and sigma lacks character
