I like that this has a bit more zoom compression than the 25 1.8, and that it's a bit wider than the 45mm 1.8 for portraits. And that the image quality doesn't suffer at 1.4.

I was happy to see this lens get the Robin shutter therapy treatment. I bought a used one a few months ago because I have really enjoyed the 56 1.4 for years. I thought it hilarious a few months ago when a Sigma exec said they weren't developing any new MFT lenses...they never did..they only adapted APS-C ones. My quick experience is that vs the Pana-Leica 25mm 1.4,, the Sigma has more intense colors,,(not exaggerated) and the Lumix is more of a "character" lens with an original film type look,,especially on video. Both aree tack sharp. My tests are not extensive..Also ..on both of my Sigmas I find that shots with an Olympus body result in more true natural color than say a Panasonic G9...just my thought..Thanks Robin,,keep shooting,,,we'll be watching!!

I have the trio of 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm for my Nikon Z fc. The rendering is beautiful and the bokeh is delicious! I am very happy that we finally got decent AF bright primes for the Nikon Z system, not that we didn't have options, buut most were either 1.8 primes if they had AF (Viltrox) or full manual lenses with no electronic contacts for EXIF or AF. Even though it was possible to adapt these from Sony E-mount, having the native option is always more convenient. A must have for any Sony or Nikon APS-C shooter!

Hi Robin, I actually had this lens in the past and thought it performed very well. The only reason I sold it is because I had the opportunity to get the 25 f/1.2 at a very good price, which made keeping this one somewhat redundant as I also have the f/1.8 version of the Olympus. I do still have the 56mm, though, and that one is an absolute gem of a lens. Compared to similar offerings by both Lumix and OM it cannot be beaten for both the price and the size. Lastly: I do agree I would love more f/1.4 or 1.5 lenses. It's a pity the 20mm is somewhat underwhelming on the purple fringing department, otherwise it would probably my go to lens for street, travel and a lot of work as well. For me, for example, a few classic FL's like 75 and 105 equivalent with f/1.4 and pro grade sealing etc would be amazing. Not to mention a 12mm or something similar.

I also enjoyed, during the bonus POV sequence at the end (7:06), trying to guess Robin's MFT framing from the wide-angle POV. We coincide about 75% of the time. In the shots that didn't match my expectations Robin's framing was superior, sometimes much so. Possible video suggestion: Guess my framing!

I had this lens in my bag but rarely used it, courtesy of the brilliant 12-40 pro. However, in my last holidays in a familiar place where I already shot everything, I "forced" myself to exclusively use the 30mm.
I thought it would be challenging, that I would miss a lot of things, but not at all! I just automatically changed my way of shooting and never really my "good for everything" zoom.
I shot really decent photos of pretty much anything, from landscapes to animals that were not too distant :)
I now have a dilemma every time I go out for non-specific shooting sessions. Do I take the zoom or do I take the 30mm 😅 ? It's surprisingly good as an all-round lens, plus the 1.4 aperture perk.
