Nate, to me, is showing he is mentally healing during the cv lockdown period in the Clouds Mix Tape, yet he added this older song where he shows he still has a way to go mentally. This was actually completed with a period of time in between the main drifting section, and the added ending before releasing the tape. I get the feeling that his down time was spent with much OCD sessions with his therapist. You are right, it sounds like he has gotten closer to God during the lock down time.
