  • Gaming giant Razer has partnered with a small company called Clearbot to help design an autonomous trash-collecting boat that can identify floating garbage in the water, catalog it and then collect it into a waste container. The collaboration is part of Razer's Go Green with Razer initiative to help startups working on sustainability and green technology projects.

      In fact if they use human to drive the boat you instantly have the most advanced object recognition AI in the animal kingdom and perhaps this could be used as training models for the AI. This program can help children have fun and educational by raising their awareness about the environment. I see this as an absolute win.

So much of their products just become eWaste too that is sifted through by impoverished people in other countries. Close the loop. Razer products never last. I have much more durable peripherals that I've kept after they're no longer in use including some from the early 90's. every time my razer keyboards brake I pull out the same old Satek keyboard I retired before switching to razer. some of razers mice and keyboards only last a year in regular use. I have a naga Trinity from last Christmas that already has broken side buttons. my friend's headphones broke after a month. I always know that I'm sacrificing longevity for razer's quality and that razer products quickly turn into the trash that I won't be able to re-use or give to a friend like I'm used to. I kind of thought high-end products that don't last very long was razer's thing. The new configurator doesn't even support the old gamepads. I had to switch out my full set of everything to make the jump to the new synapse so I wouldn't have to have both of them installed.

    Let´s be realistic, it´s a good thing to care about the ocean. But how many of these tiny tiny boats you need to clean, lets say Rio de Janeiro?? A thousand of those boat would do absolutely nothing! And they have to recharge the battery, so they are not autonomous, and the garbage compartment its very small so they fill up. Also you need insane ammounts of these vessels to cover up a big area so that mean a higger rate of mechanical and electrical failure. In my opinion this proyect is full of leaks.

    They should built giant ones that can withstand Tsunamis and Hurricanes, connect them to Starlink Satellites and track the Oceans. Maybe that way we can see what happens to missing planes and other things.

    Look at its little trash can that's so cute. The ocean is a vast place though and it works only on the surface? I don't think it will make a blind bit of difference. Feels a bit like pissing into the wind. Make thousands of them and as unforgiving as mother nature is they will end up contributing to the pollution in the ocean. We need to address the cause of the problem not the symptoms!!

    I would look into a way to cool the earth down with tech. I say that by means of re-freezing the pole to restore the lost glacier mass. As well as dealing with the rising ocean waters.

    • @Vysair

      How, the pole is absurdly large to cool down with tech

    • @jaredr9554
      @jaredr9554 Před 2 lety

      @@Vysair Heh? I believe with tech we could absolutely cool down. But.....If there is heating coming from internally that is causing the glaciers to melt then there is nothing that can be done our end.

    You're fixing the problem that's what the companies will say. They're not going to change what packaging they use they would cost them money

    -> makes trash -> drops it in ocean instead of recycling to lower expenses-> realizes that it kills marine life -> makes tons of robots in factories which the process produces greenhouse gases just to pick those trash up again -> ends up recycling anyway….. "Humanity, as efficient as it gets" :)
