Props to both wrestles. That setup from the chain choke to falling right into the coffin was a nice touch.
There's a scene with a wrestler getting thrown of of the entrance stage sitting in a wheel chair which folds compact almost like this coffin, that could have been aew about a year ago.
But what a tough style match though, how professional can wrestling become?

Brody King is insanely talented. He absolutely nailed that ending. That had a chance to look very fake, but he made it look real.
tbh I dont think he was supposed to have the coffin close like that, I would assume Darby was meant to come down and slam it shut, but he didnt have to, and it was even better that way.

For the people that don't know btw, Darby and Brody are very very good friends behind the scenes. How they can put their friendship aside in matches like this is beyond me. I could never. Props to both!
They say if you truly are friends, then you put on the best shows. Same can be said for enemies as well, but only when you just want to hurt the other so bad. A lot of people know each other behind the scenes and the last thing they want is to screw up bad because they will never hear the end of it backstage.

This match was way too good. Darby always delivers when there’s a coffin involved but this was the best Coffin Match AEW has ever done.

Been loving how Brody King has been shown to look like a straight powerhouse over these last several weeks now from Royal Rampage to now he has looked great. Finally The HOB has been used in a good spot on AEW it about time.

To be honest Buddy Matthews screwed that up just standing there watching when he should have bought time by jumping back in shock at the reveal and then doing the 'surprised and confused hands to the temples and looking around' bit. Just standing there patiently waiting with no reaction blew the spot for me. He didn't sell any shock at Sting being in the coffin at all.

The House Of Black is probably my fav group in all of Wrestling history. They have the aesthetic, the darkness, the talent, the connection, just everything. They're heels but they don't even insult the crowd or insult in general. They're just doing stuff thats badass and menacing. I love them

This match was phenomenal. Even down to how perfectly Brody King fell into the coffin and how Sting threw the bat onto Malachi Black, the handle resting on his leg.

@@dragonking2005 That's the beauty of genuine in ring chemistry. They can make it look real even though contrived and achieved through co-operation. Seems accidental when in fact Brody was just putting himself into the perfect position to fall straight into the coffin without the usual 'awkwardness' that we often get when people have to be placed in things.

Darby Allin is the Coffin Match master. It's right in his wheelhouse. Darby is completely impressive when it comes to Coffin matches. He's yet to be defeated in this particular match.

The choreography of King getting choked out and the coffin slamming shut on its own after he fell into it... chef's kiss. One of the better endings to these kinds of matches that I can remember
I thought Brody had the match in the bag for a moment or two then The Stinger appeared and completely changed the completion of the match. J U L I A did well, love seeing her ringside

The open of the match got a little crazy when Darby had the tacks on the skateboard against Brody's face and head. When the skateboard flew in the air a huge chunk of his scalp went with it which is why he was bleeding so badly.
Darby always brings his A game. Takes that beating. Another great match. Kudos to both.
Darby is such a great and unique talent. I wish he'd get pushed up the ladder towards the AEW title.

Fun match, bloody as hell, good storytelling at the end especially., a perfect way for Darby to realistically beat someone that size
I've heard some complaints about the amount of blood in the match, but I think it's an important ingredient in adding to the believability of Darby being able to conquer the monster.
@@kiaba360-4 admittedly you have some who’d complain about the amount of blood if someone has a pimple burst mid match. I think it works here although AEW are slowly getting to the point of overdoing it. Mox is starting to get complaints from bleeding every match taking away the importance of the spot, it probably isn’t helped by having multiple blading spots on a show especially when those other spots are more relevant and engaging.
I love blood as much as the next guy but I can’t say I disagree with those making that complaint with mox it’s gonna get to the point where he bleeds and no one gives a shit because we’ve seen it 20 times from him and other wrestlers on the card in the last two weeks.
@@elcactusdelamuerte506 I'm not well-versed on the art of blading, but is it possible for wrestlers to decrease the amount of blood they shed? Maybe Brody could've made a smaller incision on his forehead, but Darby grating him over the head with thumbtacks would probably make the incision bigger. Moxley couldn't really control his bloodflow because it was coming from his ear. Jericho seemed to have busted himself open accidently when he hit the turnbuckle.
@@kiaba360-4 not by much other than the obvious tiny wound doesn’t bleed as much as a larger wound. I guess they could do an Eddie and bleed more but that’s definitely not recommended
5:19 I love how they closed the match with the same spot that started the rivalry back at the Royal Rampage, the Sleeper Hold right on the apron making their opponent fall to sleep and then releasing their lifeless body to the floor, or in this case the coffin

@@jabronijacobs71 dog collar match? Still plays into the hanging/choking, you can do the apron spot with it and it hopefully won’t be as hokey as a choke to win rule (though they could still win by choking the other out just don’t have it as a rule as such)
The match also has one hell of an aura in AEW with the two we’ve had so far, and there’s probably some sort of storytelling/character work with Darby taking after his mentor cody to go to war with a monster called Brodie in this type of match.
Still I think they’ll hold off for a while, they want to continue the story not run the same match back week after week

Back in the territory days there were many wrestlers who had a type of match that was "their" match and the fans were conditioned to believe that the wrestler would never lose in that type of match. Darby should win a lot of these matches until when he finally loses it is a huge deal.

And I personally have Black winning over Sting imo because him beating Sting is the greatest thing for his career & also make him be a legitimate threat in the main event scene, potentially going for the World Title

Look carefully when Darby was hanging Brodie...they adjusted themselves to make sure no injury happened. That is professionalism and talent on both their parts right there. Always entertaining, but also careful with each other. Awesomeness.
