- 2024 looks set to be a huge year for OLED gaming monitors, as pretty much every major brand announced new screens based on either LG's WOLED or Samsung's QD-OLED panels back at CES 2024. The Philips Evnia 49M2C8900 was announced slightly earlier, at the tail-end of 2023, but is still jaw-dropping thanks to its second-gen QD-OLED 49in 5120x1440 super ultrawide panel. Oh, and did we mention it's 240Hz? Read more here: bit.ly/3OVNbpH

This monitor ticks a lot of boxes for me, I do want it!
Its got a lot of creature comforts all the other 49" QD-OLED monitors don't have. It also lacks features you don't want.
Sadly, 49M2C8900 availability (at least outside Europe) is non-existent as far as I can tell. Philips, pls, bring this in North America!
Gamers be out here with owl neck trying to spot bush campers at the edges of the screen!
😂
Brilliant 😂😂
🤣
😂😂
Very good 😅
Great review there Dominic. Like the new testing methodology
Amazing review Dominic.
PLEASE upload the calibrated ICC !!
thats a really good, detailed analysis guys - it seems like a superb screen - even with the flaws the pricing seems reasonable. Some good LG screens at this size too
Love the latest testing methodology. Top job 🤘🏻
thank you! still a work in progress as it's still very new to me but the monitor reviews are only going to get better from here
yeah its a good job kitguru, its hard to find really good monitor reviews in england on youtube - just a few other guys doing them - been looking at this screen a while now.
Good stuff bro ❤
That’s a lovely screen. I’m quite happy with my 27 inch but would love a 34. 49 is just too big for my desk 😮
great review, question regarding HDR. Which mode do you recommend using?
Great technical review. That’s some size of a screen. And me rocking a 27 inch
It’s huge for sure
That is beautiful
Good review thanks. Will you be reviewing any of the new 4K panels, or the 1440p 360hz models?
Thanks, certainly hoping to!
Awesome will keep my eyes out
Thannk yu for the excellent review. Just pulled the trigger on this one. I was in a dilemma between the OLED G9 and this one but the lack of 3 year burn in warranty for the samsung was a deal breaker. Also the KVM is an addad value for the philips. BTW, what is the game being played at @12:12?
Thanks! The game is called 'Jusant'
Does anyone know what sharpness setting is neutral on Philips monitors . Is it default 50 or should I turn it down to 0
Awesome wow
I really hope to see asus PG32UCDM (the price was like only 1300$ for the us market) review by you + I do REALLY enjoy how mr. Dominic speaking english - such a joy for my ears!
thanks - we will do our best!
That’s well priced over there
I really love this monitor. I want to marry this monitor.
Let’s not get carried away
I love a good bright oled. ❤
good video
Wow I’d need a new reinforced desk for that monster. How much does it weigh ?!
it's a heavy beast, 14kg including the stand
That's pretty heavy considering those panels are so thin and quite lite. Must all be in the stand?
14kg, holy crap @@KitGuruTech
Are the response times gamma calibrated? And is the response time range 10% to 90%?
Yep these are gamma corrected, we use a fixed 5 RGB value tolerance rather than 10-90%, or 3-97% etc
@@KitGuruTech Nice, this is the way.
I’d like to see some 360hz panel reviews Dominic
We will do our best
seems like a good, if flawed product. its absolutely massive thats certainly clear !
Is this available in the UK?
Yeah about 1150 on amazon currently, curry's also have it
This is a seriously wide monitor. I'd love one but I'd have to do something with the strata of paperwork strewn all over my desk.
Pricing really isn't that bad was expecting it to be more than 1500 quid. It's basically a little bit cheaper than a 27" apple studio display. Different markets though I guess.
yeah very different market especially with the 32:9 aspect ratio!
Good panel. I’d love to game on an oled this size. I assume it’s a Samsung panel.
It is yeah, second gen Samsung QD-OLED
Dimming flicker frequency?
I don’t even know what that is lol
@@iamahappybunny7640 Google search may help with that
Imagine if it was just a tad bit higher ie more girth vertically. looks like just a stripe so to speak. But am I the only one finding that the vidoe feels a bit stuttery or is it on my end? as I have had a hard crash and had to reinstall amd craptastic drivers....
Far too big but it’s cool 😂
The mention of Startfield is ridiculous.... What did you expect? The game is garbage.
I loved it ! its cool to hate that game. not everyone does, as the sales figures show !
I loved Starfield.
Loved it. Beat it twice now !
The sad reality is that unless you sided with AMD in the latest graphics card war, you CAN NOT POWER the latest super ultra-wide displays, because Nvidia cheaped out and only provided Displayport 1.4 on their 30 and 40 series GPUs. So, you have a choice between good and evil: Your 240hz 32:9 4K Super ultra-wide powered by an AMD GPU, or a pathetic 21:9 3440x1440 165/175hz display.
What really? are you sure ? !!!
I used a 4090 with DP 1.4 and it worked fine with DSC on this monitor, HDMI 2.1 is also supported
@@KitGuruTech does gsync work over hdmi 2.1 in this case?
Yes 👍
