      +ross anderton Hey Ross, it's the gift that keeps on giving. Always really fun and it's got loads of options for processing and controlling sound. A bit like the Octocontroller from Abstract Data. Both of those in my set up not only work great together but seem to ignite the system or at least my own ideas.

As much as i love the sound of the 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator, i was completely blown away by the sound you started at around 15:30 into the video.. I was wondering if you remember what patch you were sending through the SMR? The mix of the oscillator, reverb and tube is one of the most haunting things i have ever heard come out of a modular! Thanks again for taking your time to make this video

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  Před 8 lety +1

      yeah very different, one is a granular based device the other is a resonator. SMR as a resonator is filter/EQ based that is different to say a karplus strong delay network that can act like/as a resonator for string like sounds.

    5:48 A bit of clarification please: So you can send a Gate into the Audio Inputs? Is it still just normalized to White Noise then? Or are you just pinging the filter causing it to self-oscillate? Also, is it in fact outputting SINE waves? Really what I am asking is can you run it through a wave folder?
    Mine gets here on Thursday... Cannot describe the excites.
    EDIT: LOL - RTFM - "Interestingly, a trigger or gate also contains all frequencies, so sending a pulse into the audio input causes all channels to make a sound." - I did not know that... Still - can anyone answer the Sine wave question?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  Před 9 lety +1

      +Sean Hornibrook You can run the output into a wave folder ... totally awesome! I'd recommend trying that.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  Před 9 lety +1

      +Sean Hornibrook As soon as an input is present (whatever it is) the noise goes away. So it's purely "striking / pinging" the resonant filters to excite those to ring.

    Anyone know what the oscillator being used at the end is? Is it Braids?

      +Dan G HI Dan, sorry if I've missed your question it's a WMD PDO. Awesome thing! :)

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  Před 9 lety

      +Dan G I did think when I said "phase distortion oscillator" most people would pick up the PDO from that. I'll have a video on that coming on a different platform later in the year.

    hey is it possible, to mix between the input and outpu signal ? so only the output signal goes out ? would be nice to have a drum loop in as you did, but only the effected one out .

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  Před 3 lety

      its output is always just the output. There's no dry/wet blend or mix on board.

    • @soundofmai
      @soundofmai Před 2 lety

      Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what you describe might be achieved by turning 'resonator' up to the max.

    • @soundofmai
      @soundofmai Před 2 lety

      @@DivKid Would I be right in saying that if I want a fully dry signal I could have all the frequency bands up full with the resonance at zero, and if I wanted a fully wet signal I would turn the resonance up to 100%? And would the volume level be the same with res at 0 or 100%? I'm thinking about using this through an auxiliary channel of my mixer, so that I could choose a pitched resonance to add to my Moog DFAM during a live performance...but I would have other effects through the same aux on the mixer, so I wouldn't want the SMR on all the time. Do you think it would work for this?

    Nice video as always but... Those CLICKS tho (1:57). Louder than the signal (!). For practical recording studio application for music creation I don't see how most of this modular gear is even useful because of the CLICKS and POPS. Expert Sleeper is the only company making a non-clicking module that softens the opening/closing of the waveform. I don't know why all companies don't do that.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  Před rokem

      Hi Joshua, those clicks are just due to the morph control set to its lowest setting. Instantly shifting from one frequency to another will cause clicks. It's not VCAs or click-less zero detection issues. But you can just turn up a knob slightly and rectify this on the module.
      I don't find modular gear to be any more clicky or poppy than other studio gear and when it can be is usually down to functions and controls presenting a wider control range than other things which can be exploited or reigned in by the user.

    Kid ,at first and for the beginners...could you tell us what the modules are made for y'see?....a spectral multiband resonator?...what is this?what is it for....a filter?...please ,if you could add that at the beginning of the vids..it will help! And once again thks for your vids,they are surely he best to understand how to use the modules
    So is this modules something that can flter during a sequence?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  Před 6 lety

      Hi Jeff, nice feedback. I'd struggle to say what the modules are made for though with a lot of them having so many options for how to use them. I'm trying to make sure I cut in patches and short edits from the video into the introductions so people can hear and see patches coming in the video to set some context.
      I don't know what you mean by "filter during a sequence" but it's 6 bandpass filters that can change frequencies within scale by variable CV or by changing through patterns with a clock/gate signal.

      What would you like me to say instead? Not describe how these things work and the terms used for them?

    • @agapeleone5847
      @agapeleone5847 Před 2 lety +1

      @@DivKid I get your point but very much get MeTokyo's too. Most vids of this sort do use all the technical terms and have a "look it up" approach. Imo a "which is" follow up could be nice here and there, especially on important parts... but you are covering so much so I get the efficiency mentality. That said, my music is far more experimentally driven than I ideally prefer due to this. People like me are interested in making music and sounds, not user manuals and fancy techy glossaries. For the average person (which I know more than the average but less than expected for a vid like this) but for the average person, this may as well be in an entirely different language. "You take the criogenic frogilizer metrolosis and run it to the megoclamickal dehydralizer and click in a defrag multi-gravitronical duvalizer and you then get a nice cryptolated fungular trianguloid monopad dualizer sequence" when they could just say "when you turn these two knobs it adds that ring tail you hear" (just as a hypothetical / satirical example.) These terms often over complicate rather than simplify and imo things like this should accomodate less versed people to some degree.
