- With a serious lumber delivery due in the near future I needed somewhere safe to store it. I also was incredibly surprised by the generous gift of a Dewalt Jobsite Table Saw! In this video I assemble it and test it out!

Some have requested to make donations to my off grid living project. Many thanks. Paypal: ibwonet1@gmail.com
For those who asked I create an amazon wish list here it is:

Please note: With large products Amazon will mention they cant deliver to me but that is not correct. They will fill the order anyway and any deliveries go to the main post office nearby!

Thanks for watching!
A picture tells a thousand words Don. I always make a coffee and read the instructions, but looking at the picture does it for me.
Yep pictures help for sure! These were a mix of helpful and not so much.
I usually at least read instructions. There is always a right way to do things. I am 70 years old and have done many projects over the years.
Way to go Daniel. Delighted you are watching.
You've worked so hard getting this far... not just the grueling hot labor, the process of adjusting to the harsh desert conditions, the research and planning from before you chose your land, but also the extra effort and hours to make these videos for us. God bless you and the ministering angels who step in to help you.
I am so cared for indeed. Thanks for such lovely words kathryn!
God Bless Justin and Amanda for the wonderful gift for Don
May He indeed bless them for sure.
I generally use a plastic container to put the nuts, bolts, ect in at each stage of a build. This is to try and not drop them on the floor or ground. In your case with the blowing wind, that container would have to be heavier glass, like a pyrex bowl. Bowl is even better if the inside is white.
Thank you to your very nice gift givers for making Don's life easier.
Thanks so much Rags. I just learned about a magnetic bowl from one of the commenters. I found it one on amazon as well. Excellent.
16:53 safety tip: the push stick is used to the right of the blade between the blade and the fence. It’s purpose (besides finger safety when cutting thinner pieces) is to push the cut piece through past the blade so it doesn’t bind between the blade and the fence, as well as prevent the cut piece from being kicked back during a bind.
No question. In my eagerness to show off the saw I wasnt as thorough as is wise.
Lots of people love Don. You are Goodman.
If I ask what I did to deserve so many kind folks caring for me I cant come up woth an answer. I guess its just what God wants for me. Thanks so much for your lovely comments.
I laughed a little when you said the work doesn't get done by imagining it's done. That's obvious of course, but more than once I've imagined my plans so thoroughly that I had to remind myself it wasn't built yet, and I'd better get to work! I use pallets for storing good wood. And yes, that twisted lumber is horrible and plentiful, even when you store it nicely.
Thanks coyotetech55. I am hoping to use the lumber so quickly it doesnt have time to do weird and wonderful things like that 80s band Twisted Sister.
I lay all the parts out (to make sure I have them all), the follow directions step-by-step.
What a wonderful gift Don -- blessings to the gift givers!!
As always thanks for all of the lovely encouragement Michelle.
@@affordabledesertliving3487 You're welcome my friend! :D
That is the tablesaw I would buy if I could afford it and needed one.
lol, oh Don, you are so funny. Firstly, what a wonderful gift, right? Big hugs to the sender of this magnificent gift! and I love your having to look in your shoe. So I am not the only one that misplaces, drops, searches for dropped parts, I feel a camaraderie with you now, lol. I actually read everything first, I watch a CZcams on how to put it together ( there's always someone who has done it) and then I lay out all the parts, match the inventory list and check it off. Yes, that is why it takes me FOREVER and a DAY to put anything together, but I know I have zero intuition as to how to put things together, so I have to do it the long way. So good to see you and thanks for sharing your journey! Your fans are on it with you🥰👋👋👍👍
So love you coming by and commenting as usual Martha. Yep I have to drop things several times a day no matter what I am doing.
Some tools with armature motors don't care if they are running on DC or AC electric. You can take 3, 4, or 5 100 watt solar panels and connect them in series. This will run blenders, drills, most vacuum cleaners when the sun is well up. Since solar panels get a lot of watts from ultraviolet light, the wattage wont soar until the middle of the day.
WOW! You have some awsome subcsribers. I was moved to tears myself. Looking forward to the next video.
Thanks so much morten. It is an amazing gift isnt it?
Long-time viewer here. Would love to see more birds and time-lapse sky. Love your sense of humor and of course witty sayings like nest of skunks! Keep giving us those little tidbits that are unique ❤ to you❤
So appreciate you being here DesertDog! More bird stuff coming for sure. Thanks as always!
Perfect video portraying important details of self building. A good place for unloading supplies a must. I will never forget unloading 30 large sheets of wallboard on pallets lying on newly pre-built gravel road at 62. Later covered with 3 layers of secured plastic sheeting. God bless the givers, who gifted you the saw. Prayers for your safety.
Cheers😅
wow that sounds like a serious job Nanny! Yes this was an amazing gift and I definitely appreciate prayers.
It was easy. The 4x10 sheets slid off easily off the back of a pickup by 2 onto the load off spot . Just glad l hired someone to install.
Sounds like you figured it all out well!@@Nannygoat
I love seeing the "how" of putting together and using tools. That saw is a bit terrifying, though!
I have used table saws for years in my 20s/30s. Will refresh myself on the safety parts though.
As usual Don .You are really quite diligent in all of the work you do .As they say " if a jobs worth doing it`s worth doing well ".Indeed you should always follow the instructions .In the past I have been guilty of thinking that I would be well capable of assembling various flat packed items without reading the instruction and found to my dismay that i have missed something and had to disassemble the item to fit something that i should have fitted near the beginning of the process. ATB
Thanks so much for your encouragement mate. Yes assembling stuff can be a challenge for sure. This took more time than I thought it would but its all done now!
Don, I am so glad you are back to doing videos. The good man above is looking over you well. God Bless those two individuals that gifted the saw. Wishing you a super blessed week. God bless in all you do.
Thanks rodney! Yes indeed Father in Heaven loves me dearly and many thanks for all of the blessings. Blessings to you as well!
As always, I thoroughly enjoyed your video, Don. Keep up the great work! And a big shout out to your fans (Justin and Amanda, if I recall correctly) who were so generous with their purchase. I can't wait to see all of your upcoming progress, Don.
Kind regards from Tucson,
-Timur
New video coming soon with more progress Tim! Thanks for being here!
Thanks, Jutin and Amanda.👍
Wow yes indeed!
I sure wish the work would get done by imagining it was done. We would’ve been done along time ago lol. 😂❤ wow, I can’t believe the generosity. That is so wonderful and will come in very handy. I hope you will watch safety videos because we want you keeping all of your fingers and hands. 😊❤
I have used table saws for years but when I was in my 20s/30s. I will refresh myself on the safety aspects before I do any building. Thanks as always for your lovely comments!
ok.... this is awesome. You are awesome.... you have a "project" for your "project"......
Thanks so much for the kind words and for watching!
Hi Don!!!! You look great today!!!
I see your hamming it up in front of the camera!!!😝
That was very generous of Josh and amada to send that very nice equipment. that's my cheap either.. But be safe with that saw, I've seen people get injured, Not good.
I'd trade that car in on a pickup Don?? We're still looking at land options in Arizona yet, haven't nailed anything down yet.
we're looking between Concho and Show low.
Won't be long.
we're anxious to leave Pennsylvania. Tell me Don?
When you first step on land you own, is it like stepping on the Moon for the first time???
I believe it will be for us too.
Don .. you be safe.. All the Best❤😉👍🎶🎵💞
Thanks so much for the super encouragement and cautions. Duly noted. Re: the pickup, its way beyond my budget at the moment. Re: First stepping on your own land and what it feels like? I hope my first videos project what I was thinking and feeling about it all. I had birded and visited Arizona before so it wasnt that strange really. Just a new adventure. I would scope out the area and walk properties and hang out in Arizona before making any decisions. I had concerns of course but then life always has that. But by far owning my own land seems still to me like a miracle. Hope that helps.
Don - We have watched & enjoyed you from your 1st video. I enjoy your bird segments & it's interesting when you share information about the birds. Keep up the good work on your videos & your construction on the "big" house.
Thanks so very much and its lovely to hear that folks enjoy the bird info. I will definitely be providing more and thanks for the encouragement on the "big" house.
You have angels looking out for you.♥
Definitely a true statement. Thanks so much for your lovely comments!
@06:25 your new toy has arrived😆🙌🏻
Super thankful here too.
Sparky, you are such a lucky guy, what with all your generous subscribers, be careful using the saw.
No question Dave. I will indeed be careful with the saw.
Hi Don, you inspire me with every video. The way you problem solve and work things out is wonderful. Graham and Tim 😊 🐕
Love having you come by and commenting Tim. Many thanks as always!
You're a lucky guy, to have good subscribers!
Its absolutely amazing I think.
Iam 69 and you remind of me!😅. Thanks enjoyed. Instructions were made for starting a camp fire.😅
LOL got a chuckle out of that one Larry.
That's a nice useful gift someone sent you.
This will make your build easier and quicker.
Wow all ever got was a free shampoo sample lol.
Take care Simon 😀🇬🇧
Yes super generous for sure! Thanks for watching as always Simon!
Hi Don, I met you in Lowes the other day, just wanted to say hi and if your wood does warp you can always take it back to Lowes and swap it out for straight stuff, I've done that for years. Best Wishes
Hi Mark. What a fun surprise to be called by name at Lowes and find out its someone who watches the videos. So appreciate your support and how fun and heartwarming a brief meeting can be. Thanks again!
Hi Don, I liked the way you approached what is a fairly complex assembly process, and came out on top. I also liked your sense of humour withe the 'No Old Folks Hurt' comment. You keep trucking along, Don, and pass along my thanks to your generous subscibers.
I am sure they will read your comment and many thanks for all of the encouragement.
I am going to do what you are doing in a couple of years. Can't live in the city my SS will put a roof over my head and that's all . Thank you Don .
Not everyone is rolling in dough upon retirement so this is a wise option I believe.
It depends on the object. Sometimes I peruse the instructions and sometimes I don’t. I bet most people don’t really know what peruse really means.
what an incredible surprise!
No question about that Carol for sure!
Super nice, much needed tool for your next build. All the best and stay safe my friend.
No question! Super thankful for all of the wonderful tools I now have.
that saw is designed mostly for cabinet building and trim work , and long cutting panels and and furniture building , cutting small pieces will hurt you and and also no long sleeve shirts and bagy clothes or other loose items that catch the blade and pull you into it, also sharp blade make the job easier and smoother , that blade is lethal and will cut a finger or hand off in a split second, no distractions while your using the saw , also big thick gloves can be a problem too , think it threw and plan every cut before you cut till you get use to using it, for framing a house you need a 12 inch mitre saw, and real good quality circular saw and a good selection of diferent hand saws , it looks like a fun saw to operate and you can build all kind of really nice things if you use it correctly, but that SAW will HURT you!!! be extremely careful and good building , you dont need luck , you need skill which can be developed with time
Thanks for all of your concern George. Duly noted.
Hey Don.. looking good there ! I usually try to follow the instructions.. otherwise find myself having to disassemble something 🧐🤔😁
Definitely the wisest way to approach assembly for sure.
Good onya Don.
What wonderful folks that sent you that present
Yes and they sent some other gifts as well which I already thanked them for.
What an outstanding gift! 👏
Amazing right Helene! Thanks so much!
GREETINGS!!!
Greetings as well and thanks for watching.
Good job mate, heads up, a quick and dirty string line would be easier, but your way works too. 😃
Thanks Kezz. Yes indeed I figured since it wasnt a true foundation for anything serious I would wing it a bit.
Great video Don 👍🏽
Thanks for that encouragement Robb!
Very Cool!
Don, you need a "string level" (a four dollar tool) to help you level a whole run all the way across
Some nice companies do include some spare parts. So, extras don’t necessarily mean you failed.
I just love your videos! It's always entertaining and informative!
How kind Carol. Thanks so much for being here!
Good video Don I really like how your filming is getting so good. See you.
Wow what an encouraging comment. Thanks so much!
When l go to Lowes or HD to buy wood, l usually have to dig through a whole bundle just to find 10 good pieces. I can't even imagine what a job it would be to pick out enough good pieces to build a whole house.
I spent all afternoon and part of the evening picking out lots of lumber. One employee was kind enough to help which made it faster.
You asked so .. The most important thing is me is getting all the nuts and bolts into a bowl so I can keep from losing them. harbor freight has a magnet 🧲 one under 5 dollar's. I've never dropped or lost my hardware.
Wow didnt know about one of those Lee. I will have to look into one of those!
I have an EE degree, which makes me a mechanical idiot. Instructions are the last thing I look at. Sometimes I'm successful, and sometimes I have to take a gander at the 'structions.
Lot of video for such little acomblished 😮
Don is one in 20 million.
Super kind. Many thanks.
Great saw!
Sure is! Thanks for watching.
Don , Giles from seaside Oregon coast area , hay hopefully your dealing with the heat there staying cool I hope , I have that same table saw just a deferent brand lol , work wonders for you , now you can cut super clean edges, rip 2 x4 s,&2x6s plywood , all kinds skill saw only limited to what you can cut , will enjoy your new toy sir , stay cool in Temp drink more water bud
Thanks so much Giles! I always drink plenty and now its cooler these days. Only gets into the high 80s or low 90s LOL. Thanks for all of that encouragement.
Love your videos Don, keep em coming great job!
Thats so encouraging Rob. Comments like yours make my day.
Very Nice
Thanks so much for watching.
Great video!
Thanks Darryl! Appreciate you watching.
That's so awesome
Isnt it? So thankful here.
Men usually look at the pictures and try and figure it out. Then if its not right then they read the instructions lol.
Yep that would be me included. Although I do thumb through the instructions. In this case I at least referred to them a lot LOL.
Excellent video, Lot to learn
Thanks Abid. One of the joys of being here. Learning and experiencing new challenges and new stuff!
you need a cheap[ old pickup truck! Keep up the good work!
My wallet says no but I can understand why you would say that. Thanks for the encouragement!
You are an inspiration. TY
How kind many thanks.
Love it cuz!❤
Thanks Judy! So excited for you folks to be building too!
What a wonderful gift. Use it in good health. Your wood storage platform looked like an addition to your home. Too bad you can't get one "free" block for every dozen you buy.
Yes I love that idea of the occasional free cinder block!
great video don ...cheers
Many thanks Trailcampete! thinking you might live in Ontario?
yes don just north of toronto@@affordabledesertliving3487
Lord luv ya, Splendid.💯👌
Thanks so much James!
Whenever I try to assemble something without looking at the instructions, I end up having to take things apart to correct an assembly mistake. I’ve done that so many times in my life. I always look at the directions now.
Thats the way to do it for sure. These instructions seemed odd and confusing to me. Maybe my senior brain gets easily scrambled LOL.
Wow that was great its good you have rich watchers and hope some one will help you build this its to much for you i know i couldn't do that at my age but your older then me by few years your amazing im hopeless putting things together and yes i always drop screw and bolts to always hahah take it easy ok its hot out there to
Thanks for your lovely comments Kriss. Yes I suspect I am not through with dropping things.... LOL.
Well Dun!
Thanks so much. Suspect its soon going to be time to see beautiful fall colors in your area.
@@affordabledesertliving3487 yes it is at the beginning
I have the exact Titan setup that you have. Everything works great except I have a 900 watt Hamilton Beach microwave and it won’t even try to work.
That is just odd. I would check in with the titan company. Or I am thinking it might be the microwave itself is the issue. I can run at one time a black &decker toaster oven and an inductive cooktop with no issues.
What a wonderful gift. God bless them. And I’m an atheist.
Thanks Tim!
Can’t crosscut using your rip fence as you did. The saw will bind and you will get HURT! Use the fence to rip and your miter to crosscut. If you want to use the fence to measure a crosscut and to make repeatable cuts, just put a space between the board and the fence. Clamp the board and then remove the spacer before cutting.
Great tips Thomas. Safety first. Time to put all of that to mind.
When all else fails read the instructions
Here here!
ASSIGNMENT: Watch as many SAFETY videos as possible before you begin using that saw.
Thanks for your concern. Duly noted.
Listen to the worriers please ❤ be safe
Yes indeed will review safety stuff before any work.
Hey Don hello and good afternoon hey do you know of any land next to you for sale and if you do is there any chance you can send me the information greatly appreciated God bless you.
Sure Jose. One of your best places is a facebook site. Its called Cochise County Opt Out. Properties listed there every week.
Wing it every time if all fails read instructions that's the manly way
Funny comment Roger. Thanks for watching!
I call instruction manuals, distraction manuals
Funny comment mate LOL.
Please and I repeat PLEASE, watch a video or go to a wood shop and learn how to use a Table saw. The way you cut that board is VERY WRONG and can cause you much harm. I'm not criticizing you put I've seen the harm those type saws can do. Hope you heed this advice and what other have said about this safety issue. Have a safe build
Thanks so much for your kind concern. Duly noted.
So here is my issue.......It is no secret that these types of products have HORRIBLE directions.
If you make a million of them there has to be a cost to adding those horrible directions to the box.
Why not just have someone create a step by step CZcams video how to assemble it? it costs literally nothing and it has to be better than the horrible instructions they put in the box. Just saying....
I noted that a few folks did indeed put out youtube videos on this saw and so I watched them after not being able to figure out some of the first steps. I dont think they put a lot of thought into their instruction manuals. But super glad it all came together just fine. Thanks for watching.
