My dad owned a pressure washing business when I was growing up and I use to go to work with him all the time. His machine was 4000 Psi and I got too close one day and he hit me with the stream directly to my knee with a 35 degree angle tip not a 0 degree, it opened my knee up straight to the knee cap. The high pressure instantly stopped the bleeding and I didn't start bleeding until I got to the ER when they cleaned it out for stitches. So in short, yes a pressure washer will absolutely cut you open lol.

I had the unfortunate experience myself, though it was a power washer and not a pressure washer. I can assure you, it takes only 2 seconds top to make cut of about 5mm (0.2 inch) and the water beam was not even steadied in one place.

The first time I used a pressure washer, I was young and ignorant of how dangerous they were. I actually held my hand in front of the nozzle and pulled the trigger to see if it was spraying warm water...
Almost ripped my fingertips off... luckily, my hand was blown out if the way almost immediately. Fingers were numb for the rest of the day.
My poor dad got a whole bunch of second degree burns up his arm because the pressure washer water grazed his arm.

2000psi is relatively low even for a common pressure washer which you usually run closer to 5000 psi. I got cut on my wrist with the a UHP 40,000psi waterblaster with a barracuda tip (specialized rotating jet tip). This was a result of a falling from an unstable platform with gun in hand.
Had to have surgery in order to confirm no dirt or water was pushed upwards of my arm.
These are tools to be taken seriously
Depends on what you consider common. There are millions od 2-3kpsi units (plastic junk from hardware stores), but "Real" units start at only 1600psi 10lt/min for bush wash etc.
Then there's units like the 15-18k ones I have been around that take concrete overspray off steel. I also often tend to a paltry 4000psi unit that will easilly cut through boots etc... mainly because it pumps out 60lt/min where the toy in the article above is 1.2gpm (barely 5lt... 5lt... thats the worst flow I have ever seen in 10 years in the trade...)

My dad was pressure washing the house a while ago, he was standing on a ladder so he could reach the top. The ladder wobbled some and he reached down to get a grip with the pressure washer still in his hands. He hit his leg and pierced the skin severely. There’s still a huge scar on his thigh today.
I think most of the dangerous part is the possibility of high-pressure injection of the fluids into the bloodstream. Can be very deadly with hydraulics.

we had one of those with the 400F water boiler 3600psi ~6gpm, real nice and built well we broke the hoses off couple times knocked it around ran the boiler almost dry

@@landenjones628 Not hyper, hydradermabrasion. Hydra, meaning water; derm, meaning skin and abrasion, meaning something abrasive. It's kind of like using an exfoliating face mask, without the mask. Instead, you use a pressure washer... Although, I wouldn't recommend it.. However, someone is likely to try it at some point...
Jokes aside, this could easily be a thing. Higher angle spray tips and longer distance reduce the danger this things are capable of inflicting.
