    At Carnation Cafe, we had this one host we saw every time we went. He was an 80 something year old man, who was just the sweetest and gave us little treats (especially when I was younger), and that cafe is so amazing! Unfortunately he passed recently, but every time I go, I think of him, and it's just so magical. ❤️

      The man you met at Carnation is Oscar Martinez. Oscar who is 82, happens to be the oldest Disneyland employee who has worked there for 60 years.

      Rene Guerrero Very cool! My dream used to be that when I eventually retired, I would move to Anaheim and work part-time at Disneyland, and volunteer at an animal shelter the rest of the time. Fast forward, I turned 65 and my health is so bad that doubt I could walk from the employees' parking lot to one of if the gift shops, where I figured I'd work. Instead, I look at apps that remind me of all my visits there in the past.

    when i was at disneyland last, a janitor came up to us and asked if we wanted to go to the front of space mountain cuz it had a 2 hour wait time. And then he literally just walked us to the front of the ride.

      Unfortunately by the time most people have used up their 3, and because of the booking ahead aspect, most of the rides worth fastpassing have sold out by then.

      @katyaweikel3922 Před 7 lety +1

      I agree with not liking the booking ahead aspect. It should be first come first serve the day of as I bet over half the people who book ahead don't even ride when someone else who wants to ride could use the spot.

    My kids and I take advantage of the single rider lines too. When Radiator Springs Racers was a 90 minute wait the single rider was only 20 minutes. We didn't get to sit in the same car together (except one time we did) but we were usually aways on the ride pretty close together.

    I can't imagine wearing Toms all day...ouch! Although they are super cute. I guess our hack for water rides is since we always bring a backpack, on the days we ride the water rides, we bring our light weight flip flops and change into them right before the ride. Change back into sneakers after. May not be all that practical for some but it works for our family of three. :)

    Went to the "Blue Bayou (sp?)" when I was a kid and had the Monte Cristo first time out. Absolutely the most delicious sandwich I've ever had. even after all these years. I think it was around 1968-1969? Yeah. "Cause I was a high school sophomore. It had to be good to have left such a strong positive impression on me after all these years. And the ambiance. It is as great as Ms. Bellemare says. Just to go there for a date, and ignore the rest of the park would be worth it, it was that good!

    The best hotel to stay in, if you don't mind not staying right across the street, is the Anaheim Majestic Gardens Hotel. It has a free shuttle and you can get free parking if you book your package through the Disney website. They're a Good Neighbor hotel. For lunch, your better option than the Blue Bayou is actually across the way at Cafe Orleans. They have several of the same things, but they cost less, because you don't have table service and you don't have the limited seating that the Blue Bayou has.

    I disagree with the toy hack. Some of the toys in the park are park exclusive. I give my kid a spending limit and tell her to look at all the shops and on the last day before we leave she buys what she wants within her limit. I like having things that you can't just get from the Disney store. To me, it makes the trip that much more special.

    • @nataliemoore6478
      @nataliemoore6478 Před 7 lety +3

      I'm a former merchandise CM, and I saw a lot of parents do what you did. They would give their kid a gift card with a limited amount on it. Once the money was gone, it was gone. I saw kids stop and think about the purchases they made. They also did the math (if I buy this, then I'll have enough money to buy some candy later). IMO it teaches kids responsibility.

      We did bring some Disney or Disney inspired toys for our girls. Those were waiting for them in the car when we started our trip.
      We also shopped around for clothes that made them feel like princesses. They would have needed new clothes for summer anyway, but planning outfits around favorite characters made them excited to pack their suitcases.
      Both girls got jewelry surprises that made them squeal in their car baskets.
      We live 12 hours drive from Disneyland, so we broke our trip into 3 days and no early mornings. We stayed with family for free and got to enjoy a day visiting both families we stayed with.
      On our last day, we let our girls pick the one thing they were most excited about. Most 10 yo couldn't find anything in park she loved more than the stuff we had pre-planned!

    By the way feel free to talk to the staff especially ppl that are older. The staff are so friendly nothing to be intimidated by. They’re not just trained to be that way the hiring process weeds out (or should) anyone who is not exceptional. I worked there for a year in 79 and loved it. If you’re really into Disneyland get a book at library called “mouse tales” fun read for Disneyland geeks.

    Okay, well how we do it is we get the cheapest hotel within walking distance of the park, then we stay at the part from the minute it opens to the minute it closes. Before we leave for Disneyland, we always make a family set of Mickey/Minnie ears (this year we're doing black baseball caps with ears and a ribbon bow for the girls with our name written on the front). For food we do it the cheapest way possible, bring snacks and have cup n' noodle soup for dinner. Yum, yum! 😜 Anyway, we always make it the cheapest way possible, get as many fast passes as we possibly can, go to every single ride and every single show, and don't waste a single second of our trip. We even drive there. Seriously, from Vancouver, WA, we drive to Disneyland. 12 hours straight, no stopping except for quick fast food meals and bathroom breaks. Yup, best way to do Disneyland!

    you can have 3 set up beforehand at WDW. you have to ride those 3 before you set up more, but as soon as you scan the third one in, you can set up another, one at a time, for the rest of the day. Ideally, you set up 3 passes for the first 3 hours of the day, then chain them to maximize for the rest of the time. I did around 15 fast passes last time i was at MK.

    If you buy a souvenir at the park and don't want to carry it around all day you can send it too your hotel if you are staying in one of Disney's Hotels.

    Fast Pass is now shared between both parks. Don't buy Park Hoppers if you were planning to double your Fast Pass opportunity. On top of that, they changed how Fast Pass works, in general, and it's even slower to get through the Fast Pass lines.

    Angie, first and foremost, thanks for making this video, we learned a lot from it! I would like to suggest a topic for a new video "How to have fun at Disney on a rainy day" It could be for either park. You sure seem to know your way around! Thanks again :)

    We were at the Disneyland Resort last month (June 2017). They are now tracking Fast Passes at both parks. Meaning you can no longer have a Fast Pass at Disneyland AND Disney California at the same time. But otherwise, helpful info.

    Blue Bayou is really expensive but good food. I’d totally try the breakfast restaurant but I wouldn’t spend my extra magic hour eating but rather trying to get first spot in lines

    You can get more than 3 fast passes a day at Disney World. :) I prefer the FP system there because you can prebook your first 3 online (so you don't have to get to the park at rope drop if you don't want to,) and then after you use all 3 of them you can go to a kiosk and get more. :)

    Thank you Angie (from another Angie) for the Disneyland hacks, I am a travel agent who has sold DL for many years but I had taken a four year break from travel, so it was great to see some of my past tips are the similar to yours and for all the others I didn't have. I will have to get down there again soon.

    For all those commenting these "hacks" are ridiculous... HAVE ANY OF YOU *EVER* BEEN TO DISNEY? THAT SH*T IS EXPENSIVE. She didn't say this was how to save $1000s, she said this was how to have a good time, which, in Disney, comes at a price.

    ok all the food hack is so wrong seriously those are the most pricey places to eat being blue bayou (ps you need a reservation for here) and napa rose also is another high price place . theres great food in disney without breaking the bank !

    • @whossoul
      @whossoul Před 7 lety +12

      Yes, they are more pricey places. However, what I have found, is often you get more value going to a more expensive place. You can get a burger and fries at a quick service for around $13, or you can go to Carthay Circle and get an amazing salmon dish for $23, plus the delicious bread, and you get to sit down in a nice calm wonderfully themed environment away from the commotion of the parks. For me, and a lot of people, it's totally worth the 10 extra dollars for exponentially better quality food and a better dinning experience.

      We really like the Storyteller's Cafe in the Grand Californian; food's great, reasonably priced for Disney, waits are short, and you can take a nap in the lobby of the hotel before you tackle the park again. In DL, we usually share the beef-stew-in-a-bread-bowl at the French Market; plenty for two, plus live music if you time it right. We used to do Blue Bayou for lunch, until they instituted the minimum charges...used to be you could get soup and dessert for not much $$, but no more!

    Is it usual to consume breakfast, lunch and dinner in the restaurants in the parks in the US? Because in Europe we usually take lunch and snacks with us from home.

      First thing you do when you get in the park is go grab a Fast Pass. Your ticket will tell you when you can get another one. As soon as its that time, grab your next ticket. Examine the maps before going so your already know where everything is. Kind of like studying for a test. lol.
