Great video Chris, this should help many people with this confusing system... With that said, a recent change was made regarding ride breakdowns and the multi experience pass you get instead. Super confusing, but rides are now tiered. So if a lower tier ride breaks down (monters inc) your multi experience pass woudlnt work on higher tier rides (indiana jones).
Another pro move is using LL modify to check for earlier windows of the same ride. Dont need to switch to a different ride.

We are heading to the park at the end of June, and the one thing is will say about the Genie + LL is that I am not a fan about the 1 time use for each ride per day.
I remember max pass would let us Fast pass a ride as many times as we wanted per day for the same price

Chris I did this in 2023 and hope the information is still good. I used the Genie Plus with park hopper, so when we exhausted the riders at the Magic Kingdom we would move to California Adventure giving us more attractions to use Genie Plus and getting better value from the Genie Plus. The next day we would start at California Adventure and then swap to the Magic Kingdom.

It is rare that Individual LL sells out quickly at the Disneyland Resort. DO NOT book ILL early unless you really want to ride the ILL attraction early. Better to do other attractions before booking the ILL on a typical day.
At WDW you should buy as soon as you can since you can select your return time.

Hi Chris and Amanda, we love your channel. You guys are so great and every time we’re in Disneyland we look for you. We’re hoping to see you but I just wanted to tell you last month I booked a one day in Disneyland in May and when I bought my one day pass, it did allow me to purchase my genie plus along with it and it charged me the $30 per for myself and for my husband, I don’t know if it always does or if it just did for mine because we go a couple times a year and we are not AP holders . I just thought I would share that with you and I hope to see you when we’re there on May 15. We are from American Fork Utah.🩷

It's insane that the same business that made a ton of money and a lot of people happy selling tickets and a free fast pass system also invented something that almost all customers hate and makes them unhappy. This is a unique characteristic of companies that are very large and have a protected moat.

His explanation of the Holy Grail (aka the Select Experience Pass, also known as MEP) is completely incorrect... Note: Provost is showing old footage when discussing this
#1 If you arrive for Rope Drop aka park opening YOU DO want to book LL asap. BUT DO NOT use it, You want the earliest LL because an attraction may be down at opening which will give you an MEP. Most likely attractions to be down at opening are Indiana Jones, Runaway Railway, and the Matterhorn. Just remember to change your return times if the ride does not go down.
#2 MEPs have different tier levels. Known as Gold Tier (currently Indy, Railway, Matterhorn, Space, Mansion Holiday, Small World Holiday, Web Slinger, Guardians, Toy Story) and Silver Tier (everything else not including ILLs)
#3 You can no longer use MEPs on non-LL attractions. However, some Cast Members may allow it.
#4 There is one more secret about MEPs, but I am keeping that one to myself.
#5 If you get an MEP from an ILL attraction keep it as a ILL attraction MEP

Thanks, I was disappointed that Chris gave bad info on this cause it’s very helpful especially for people who can’t ride certain rides because of motion sickness etc, it allows genie to still be worth it for us. I had a great golden pass day on Easter with six experience passes and three were golden. We got two rides on Indiana and one on runaway railroad. The other 3 days I got redemption passes at least once each day. Pirates only gave a pass for pirates but we were able to ride pirates each day whenever we chose and at 76 appreciated that a lot. I’m intrigued as to what #4 was lol. I hope people read your detailed response-so informative.

Love the video, but I have 2 questions. Using your booking space mountain for 12pm at 9am scenario; after I ride space mountain at 12pm and I still have my other booking can I make another selection after scanning into space? Or because I selected something at 11am I still have to wait the last hour of my cool off period? Second question, can I pick the return time or is it first available? Planning my trip for D23 and parks, hope to see you there! 😁💙💚

    • @eliseg0001
      @eliseg0001 Před 22 dny

      1. Yes, you can stack multiple LLs using the 2 hour cool down period. Anytime you scan in for a LL, you can book another.
      2. Return times are first available, but before booking you can refresh the screen to see if an earlier time becomes available. After booking, you can select modify to find a new time

There is also a banner in the app that will show you the next time you can book a new attraction with Genie+. If you are unsure you can always check that but remember if you haven't checked into the ride yet, you may want to check again after because it may be sooner since you've ridden the other one already.

Now you post this, after I get back from Disneyland. Oh well, hopefully I did it right. and judging, I did. I still get confused on the whole ride is down thing, whenI was there I saw Its a Small World down, and I didn't book it, because I WOULD NEVER RIDE IT. Scariest ride in all of Disney. But yeah, I would never used my Disney plus at the beginning of the day. But I have in the past, and this trip, not using all my Genie Plus passes by taking that route. Wait 2 hours for this and wait another 2 hours for another ride. Couldn't use them all.

I can’t wait to go back to DL in June for my bday! However, I was able to purchase genie+ in advance in April even though I’ll be at the park for the day. Did this just change where people can only purchase genie+ for multi day tickets in advance?

We visited the park in 2022 for four days and I can't recommend Genie+ enough!
One thing to add for parents with little ones is that if someone can't ride, you can use lightning lane twice for up to 3 people. For example, we were 2 adults, a six year old, and a three year old. The rides where my three year old couldn't ride we would let them know BEFORE they scan your pass, One adult and the six year old would ride... then the other adult and the six year old could ride again.
On our last day we had 2 more adults join us and one of those adults could also ride a second time. Thats what I mean by up to 3 people.
We used the method described at 12:55 and its a lot easier than it sounds. The first day we spent at Disneyland and we rode over 20 rides. At one point we spoke to another guest, we had done 15 rides and they had only done 5. We didn't feel like we had to rush or run around. It makes your vacation more enjoyable.

@joe-du4kx Im not sure what you mean? My comment is not referring to DAS pass. Im referring to when a child is not tall enough to ride. This is standard practice to allow the second parent to ride. I was just sharring that you can use the Genie+ for the second parent also. 🙂

You always have to book your first lightning Lane immediately that starts the clock, you can always modify but you always have to have a lightning Lane in your back pocket. Also if you rope drop book of space lightning lane, then go stand by, then afterwards you have a lightning lane. Redeem and keep on booking by that time the park is packed

  • @cherylpalian3254

Chris you missed a couple of issues. If we went to Disneyland there would 7 of us. My daughter would like space mountain but my son can’t ride it due to health reasons. I am disabled and couldn’t ride Matterhorn. The rest of the family would love Indiana Jones but my son and I would have to sit out on that one. The way you describe Genie +. The family couldn’t be broken up to ride separate rides. Seems like something Disney needs to work on.

When I last used genie+ you could split up your group. In the app you will already have your entire family's tickets linked. When you reserve a lighting lane you then select which people that LL is for. It doesn't automatically apply to all in your group. (Someone please correct me if this is no longer the case.)

@@mariheaton9261 I was there over Easter weekend the app will default to making reservations for everyone in your party but you can check anyone not to include. • @SierraStewartVideos

You most definitely can split up. Just make sure you click on the right members of your party when you select the ride you want. Then since the others will not have a lightening lane yet you are able to book them for the other attraction. Just make sure you only click the people you want to ride that attraction.

If you choose lightning lane for a broken down ride , then the time expires and the ride is still shut down, how do you get a lightning lane ride for any ride? Does a staff member assign one to you? Do they pick one on the app for you? Do they give you a bonus one? I'm confused at the process.

It’s harder to do this if you use genie because times don’t always line up to do this effectively. Disneyland is so much smaller than disneyworld, though , criss crossing isn’t as exhausting imo and I’m 76 so step saving is definitely important. Lucking onto those individual attraction golden and silver passes he mentions helps immensely because they have no time attached to them and you can use in either park! You can no longer use on fantasyland rides like Alice in wonderland I found , but you can use in California adventure on rides that normally don’t take genie, we were able to bypass a 45 minute wait on the Pixar pal around Ferris wheel for example. Hope that helps.

I think I know why some people are frustrated with Disney. It took you 20 minutes to explain Genie+. If you decide not to purchase it you have to stand in line. But if you pay for it you almost need to take a class on how to use it! And then if you want to ride the rides that are not available on Genie+ you have to pay even more for Lightning lanes.

Chris, back in 2022, if you had an LL and the ride broke down you couldn’t just pick another LL ride. They were “tiered”. So if you had a “lower” tiered LL ride that broke down you couldn’t get on a higher tiered ride. I remember Indiana Jones and Haunted Mansion were higher tier. Has that changed (I hope)?

We had the same experience about a month ago with Alice. It had changed and we could no longer use our multi-use pass. Also the CM had a scanner at the end-of-line entry to double check the pass level. It wouldn’t take it. But we could use it on a lower tier ride as listed on the pass.

In addition, at wdw you can buy it after midnight the day of your visit and you should definitely make your first reservation at 7am, reservations go much quicker at disneyworld . You can be “stacking” reservations before you even enter a park. As mentioned, if it’s not already on your ticket you can only buy once you’ve entered a park at Disneyland . Ear scouts does the best genie orientation for WDW IMO.
