  • If you are like me and bought a Ford Transit that did not come with a rearview mirror but you are adding windows and will now need one, this video is for you. If you have the lane keep / collision avoidance system as evidenced by the plastic trim around the camera, you will need this Ford part number 5M5Z-17000-A. You can buy it on Amazon here amzn.to/3vlqIM4
If you have a regular windshield on an older Transit you can use any aftermarket rearview mirror, but may have to glue the metal tab to the window. This is a nice example here amzn.to/4aAVpNf and the glue can be purchased here amzn.to/3TZwY6v

Thank you for the video. Did you consider a digital rearview mirror? I think there is one available by Ford for Transit. It’s probably expensive. An aftermarket one could be reasonable though.

I did not because we added rear windows so it wouldn't have been necessary. Especially with the backup camera that can be viewed at any time.
Will have another video next week on that system.

Yeah the OEM digital rearview mirror is a U$595 option so I'm considering an aftermarket digital mirror.

@@JackofAllMasterofNone but you can't display the backup camera and navigation simultaneously?

Ford charges $250 for this option.
