@@conradfisher2563 Where on earth did you hear THAT? Dan's been quite forthcoming about how he, John, and every other member of the cast and writing team was out of their minds on cocaine.
This skit made me nauseous when I saw the night it aired. Time has not changed that feeling. But boy did I laugh that night and I laughed watching it again!
Giving My Age Away,...I Actually Remember Sitting Over At My Next Door Neighbors and Watching SNL (When It Was GOOD) and Seeing THIS Skit,..in It's Original Airing!!! (Y) I Was a Sophomore in High School,Then!!! :\ Noooow,..I'm Just a TIRED,OLD FART!!! :P
Dave Drake - I clearly remember watching this skit live. A bunch of us were sitting around. We were all really high so you might imagine our reaction when he turned on the bass-o-matic. I'm older than you by a few years so you're not the oldest fart.
I saw it the first time. When my wife, two children and I took a tour of New York City in July 2001, we toured the NBC studios; when the docent, a young girl who didn't know which way was up, stated that they had props from all the years in the prop room, I asked if anyone had any questions, I asked if they still had the Bass-O-Matic blender in the prop room… She asked "what was that?"... and no amount of explaining and describing put a dent in her thick skull.
I seem to remember a similar skit on the original SNL wherein *multiple ingredients, including a fish, eggs, and tabasco sauce* were put into a blender, ground up, and drunk. Does anyone know?
A shitty posting, of a hilarious clip.....It's incomplete, out of context, and never had anything to do with Bass ale back in the day. While Bass ale is my absolute favorite beer, it's still seriously fucked up (for someone to) just misappropriate a clip like this, not do it proper comic justice, and pretend like Bass ale had anything to do with the original sketch. "Fake comedy history", taken out of context.
This sketch, and many others of its era, made possible by epic levels of cocaine.
Akroyd didn't use drugs.

@@conradfisher2563 Pretty much Everybody used Cocaine in the 70s.
Lorne sure did, it was paid for by NBC is the official budget
@@plawson8577 I thought it was required
One of the most hilarious skits ever on SNL. Note how the audience begins to groan before Ackroyd even says one word.

I saw that one the night it first aired . Was as funny then as it still is now.
One of the all time best SNL skits
Wow, that's terrific bass!
I so miss the 70's.
What was the vibe and the feelz like then?
I showed this to my adult son, an avid angler and fish eater. He replied, “Take it outside. Pour it in your garden. Plants will f-cking love it.”

CRINGE
Walter Sigel, I’m sorry to say this, but please leave CZcams. You have no idea what cringe means. Just leave.

Dave Drake, hello old fart !
@@derekhall1934 Get a room, you two.....
One of the very best commercial parodies. It was the beginning.
But wait, there's more!
RIP Ron Popeil
They really nailed the Popiel writing style.
What happened to Laraine Newman extolling the product, "That's great bass!"? ???
so that's what Kevin O'Leary was talking about in that episode of shark tank
one of the best ever i want the whole clip
@spirals 73 Thanks.
I watched it live. Laughed then, laughed now. People forget that comedy is, by its nature, offensive.
Maybe my favorite skit. I remember the night it aired. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣 Would've been even funnier if the lid came off🤣🤣🤣
0:18 When it almost falls off 😂😂🤣🤣
So close....LOL
"Wow, that's terrific bass!"
Cut out the best part. Where he drinks it. "That's good bass"
I wanted to see that part where it cuts to the girl who takes a drink and says mmmmm that's some terrific bass...
Wasn't that 'Bat-O-Matic'?
YES! ME TOO!
Awesome....thanks
Jeez, it looks like that Bass almost blasted off from the blender when he activated it! LOL
Epic Brilliance.
Happy birthday and Canada Day.
“That is good bass!”
Just like I like it!
Yes, it's just that simple!
awesome

"The WHOLE bass!"
Hmmm. That's good bass!
That was the original punchline if my memory isn't me.
I seem to remember a similar skit on the original SNL wherein *multiple ingredients, including a fish, eggs, and tabasco sauce* were put into a blender, ground up, and drunk.
Does anyone know?
is there one for perch or trout?
Bass Omatic full version
RIP Ron Popeil.
Greatest ad of all time - that is, until the Bat-O-Matic came along a few years later for the Winter Solstice ...
Where's the whole skit?
No more cutting, gutting or scaling...😆 Just adjust the control dial....😆
In reality, this would be very healthy to consume!
Would be good simmered for a few minutes, with some added salt.
Ill give it to my cat
Apparently Ron Popeil thought it was great free publicity! He also welcomed mocking himself on shows like The Simpsons and King Of The Hill
I turned on a blender with no lid ONE TIME. lol
I always prefer my bass medium- thick
Who’s here from Shark Tank?
This just in, Francisco Franco is still dead.

Funny and you little babies don't come over and comment how it's offensive. It's just FUNNY.
My professor just showed us this in class then said it will be on our exam 👉🏼👈🏼🥲
Did you pass?
Rectal exam?
who else got here looking up linux awk command errors???
I remember when this first was broadcast. Grossed me the he-- out, was shock comedy from long ago.
LOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Davie504 be like
So they sold the skit to Bass Ale?
But they didn't include the four, interchangeable rotors!
But it didnt show him actually drink it.

I hate to be that guy, but thats not even a bass. lol
Early days of SNL. They probably didn't have enough in the budget to buy a real bass...
🤮
Why the hatchet job of editing? Is the full sketch too offensive for today’s delicate snowflakes???
Are u stupid its a commercial
@@valentinelove8029 Oh, is THAT what it is?
Who came here from Shark Tank😂
