    Latino is a confusing word with multiple meanings. For me, the meaning you want to give it is totally correct. I'm Spanish and I don't feel identified with that type of music, even though it's fashionable now in Spain. On the other hand, you are the only one I have seen who has made that point, others emphasize that it is a song with a Spanish air😅

      So, let's set it stright. This music is not Spanish as this is not from Spain. However, it does belong to the hispanosphere and it does have Spanish influence. This type of music was born in Puerto Rico, which was a Spanish territory till 1898, and which, by the way, never wanted to be anything but Spaniards. Ask the USA what they did to them.
      Now, the latino thing is tricky. Literally, the only reason it is latino is because it is partially Spanish, was it not Spanish, it wouldn't be latino.

      You're right. She is a Cuban who grew up in Spain. And that is what makes the difference. She is a Spanish Latina. I think that the important thing here is that the Spanish learn what it means to be a free person. Free people are like Chanel who takes advantage of her Cuban roots and definitely distances herself from progressivism and the conflicts of a Spanish society that is committing suicide with its feminist lobbies, with a nationalist and separatist character.
      A nation that is becoming disintegrated and confronted by the ideological terrorism of the left, which wants to impose a pseudo-communist system in a country that has already experienced a civil war, which is talked about every day and of which 90% did not live. , and a 40-year dictatorship, which they continue to talk about every day and don't bury it once and for all. All a stratagem of politicians to constantly maintain the confrontation of society in a country that for 40 years has been being ideologically intervened by Russian and Cuban agents, (by the way, the most failed dictatorship on the planet and of all time).
      That's the marquetin that follow this new tribe of country divided for illogical reasons. And that the only thing they are going to achieve is a Cuban or Venezuelan-style tyranny, and they are going to starve. Within all these conflicts, a star has been born that her family took out of the Cuban dictatorship at the age of 3 and, a woman who appreciates the freedom and the country that the Spanish have given her and here she is telling them with her art. (Free yourselves).
      You can't imagine, that the Spanish are the only ones in the world who have criticized this woman, that the only thing she is doing is putting them back on the European map through Eurovision, which many of them do not appreciate. And it is very sad to see the mother country, as they themselves, they are sink into the mud of innocence taking from the left-handed path of the most resounding failure as a society, country and culture in every way.
      But what can we do, just see how they themselves sink into the mud of the left, as Venezuela itself sank. When people are taught to look down, it is impossible for them to look up to thank God for the messages that other peoples are sending them.

    “Latin” is related to the people whom language or languages come mainly from Latin language and culture (Rome), this is mainly related to Europeans, for sure mixed with the previous (Iberia cultures) and post dominant cultures as Celtics (Taxungueiras!) and Arabs in península ibérica. The spread of all derived European languages made new combinations as “Latin American” which is mostly related to Spanish and Portuguese culture, that of course has part of its roots in Spain and Portugal, so this kind of music is a combination of all that build latinoamericana culture the last 500 years. Of course this music is natural and familiar for Spanish (EU) and somehow partially Spanish (EU). My humble contribution. Thanks & let’s enjoy SloMo!

    The latino thing you know is the southamerican side. The word latino cames from the word latin that was the language talked by the Romans (italian emporium) 2000 years ago. The Romans conquered Europe and from their culture other languages evolved, like the french language, spanish, italian, portuguese, romanian, and many others.
    Then Coloumbus, who talked spanish and was financed by the spanish Kingdom, discovered America and bought the spanish language to america.
    So the "latino thing" you are talking about was born in Spain (or in Italy) if you look back in time.
    The latino rhythms started in Spain and evolved in South America.
    I hope that explanation helps you a little.

      Doesn't follow. Philippines used to be a colony of Spain but is not considered Latino. Anyway, no need to argue with me on this as what I'm pointing out is the type/style of music itself. I'm sure not all of Spain would consider this as "homegrown" music if you will. Peace out!

    • @_FsEk
      @_FsEk Před 2 lety +1

      @@31tv Totally agree that this music isn’t homegrown. It has more of a Latinamerican vibe, however it enjoys huge popularity in Spain. There are some connections between the musical traditions both sides of the pond such as “los cantes de ida y vuelta” which are forms of flamenco heavily influenced by Latinamerican rhythms. Having said that, our musical heritage is very distinct from that of Spain’s former colonies. Latin identity is more of a language/cultural construct rather than having a racial dimension meaning all nations that speak in a language derived from Latin can be described as being latin or having Latin culture. The Philippines dropped Spanish as its official language and would therefore not qualify as Latin whereas somewhere like Brazil or Mexico or French Guyana would.

    • @_FsEk
      @_FsEk Před 2 lety

      @@31tv So technically you are right. Being a former colony of a country with a latin derived language doesn’t necessarily make you latin as in the case of the Philippines. However if you still use your former colonial ruler’s language then there are grounds for calling yourself latin. It’s a language based definition as I understand it.

    • @_FsEk
      @_FsEk Před 2 lety +3

      And finally, Spain and other Southern European nations with languages derived from Latin are all Latin in culture. This false and very American centric division of calling former colonies “Latin” and Spaniards “Hispanic”, is an absolute nonsense and historically inaccurate. Latin culture derives from Europe.

      Rosalía’s great grandfather was Cuban so that’s another connection right there! Spain IS a latin country however. It speaks in several languages all derived from latin taken there by the roman invasion. Latin derived languages were then taken (or imposed) to the Americas resulting in our present day common bond and shared latin heritage derived from it. Being latin is a linguistic rather than a racial construct. I am also aware that there are layers of identity in Latin America such as precolonial native cultures that have absolutely nothing to do with Europeans whatsoever. But latin culture very much has its origins in Europe.

    Because latino music has nothing to do with Spain? We´re all spanish at every side of the ocean and that´s our music and we can feel it (or not) but is rooted ( among other influences) in Spain, so What´s the point? This girl is is cuban born with spanish ancestors and she considers her as spanishs (she´s been living in Spain most of their life) so What?
