Good stuff. The Church are a truly great band. I hope they continue.
Great band, still fantastic, better than ever live. Denver show, 2023.
Fucked up the start. Still love it.
noticed that...vocals came in a measure late...these profession musicians adjust flawlessly !!...what a great band !
Love This Band
You Are By No Means, Alone !!
If you know the original and you're wondering why this version doesn't hold up, I think it's because the drummer mis-cued the start of this song and threw Steve off at the start, compelling him to start singing at the wrong point. The weird energy from that wove through the rest of the song. Do find the full set of this KEXP performance and listen to the earlier performances they did, very good. But you can tell when a drummer doesn't feel a song so well, like in this case.
This isn’t Richard Ploog…
The Church : Since 1978 from Sydney
Nice Work! WooF!
Saw these cats live in the summer of 1991 -- best concert I ever saw. Not sure why he's so pitchy in this version, maybe it's age? The vocals were dead-on when they played that night.
Am Telling You .. Saw them in SF 3 Times - & Once Marty Wilson - Piper & Steve Kilby, at the Key Stone - None Better - Tremendous -
Can Only Imagine… ‘91 what a Great Year
What the hell, where is Peter Koppes?
I read that he missed his flight to Seattle...He was there for the concert, but not the KEXP radio promo...
The Church, amazing as per
Jeffrey Cain filling in on the 12 string!
Mis añorados The Church
Kick ass renditions...
WOW!
Way up soon awesome that is heyday heyday thank but really no words, well brilliant my band all time the best period
We're interrupted by the telephone. You didn't think they were invented then.
those two sentences. magic for me.
They Can Do No Wrong
Apache gunman in the boiling crowd
Nice, just missing the e-bowing :(
I knew there was something missing, and Ian Haug was struggling and almost making a kybosh with the lead riffs he was playing.
@@paullightfoot6020 Yeah, but they did all right. I'm a musician so I noticed a mistake or two, but kudos for redoing the song absent the original members, with Steve being the only original. I bought Heyday in '86, the first album I heard from them, & it's still my fav. Church album.
H a ha shit on uourselfe Steve. Good one.
Claps for you.
They fucked up the beginning and didn't even notice until it was too late. Way too late. Also, two wrong guitar players.
Also, I would love to be one of those wrong guitar players!
Could steve kilbey sing better when he was younger ?
When he's not on junk, yes.
playing bass at same time lil harder I imagine
Kilbey completely missed his cue and it never quite recovered...
cover band these days
Awful version of an earlier masterpiece...
They are old now, What do you expect
I just wanted to be the first commenter guy.. sorry, I have nothing good or negative to say about the song... Oh wait!!! Yes,,, WAIT!!! I love KEXP... This band is average I guess. Can't really comprehend the lyrics... After work I'm going to Home Depot and find the right washer for my sink... URRRHHHHGOD!!! I hate working after work..... All I wanna do is go for a bike ride then have a nice cold big newcastle on my back porch and throw the ball around for my dog...
Average? The Church? Gee... #facepalmforlife
Are you a big THE CHURCH fan? It sounds like the kind of music you can get away with playing in the background of movie without fear of a copyright lawsuit.
The Church is fucking great
One of my old time fav Aussie bands..but yes this recording ain't great.
smh
