I am Black American and had never heard of akara until last weekend when I met up with a large group of friends, four of which are Nigerians. A Nigerian woman brought akara to the gather and boy was it good. She also brought moi moi. I've heard of moi moi before but I had never had it until last week. Another thing that I've heard of but never had was puff puff. One of the Nigerian men brought some that his wife had made. It too was very good.
I enjoyed everything so much that I'm planning on making all three next month when I visit my mother and sister. I will probably find some other African dishes to make like jollof rice.
Aww…we live Akara. I have a banging Jollof rice recipe if you’re interested 🫶🏾
Best way to make akara I have seen on CZcams, with less talking too👍.
AKara, Kosai, Acaraje’ one of the best Nigerian 🇳🇬 food export ❤️❤️❤️.
Kiki my second attempt using your recipe and my first time getting akara. It was so good that hubby had 7 of it and wanted more. I used honey beans and I didn’t wash off the skin. Thank you very much for your easy to follow recipes.
This is the best akara recipe ive seen on ig. No gimmicks or extra chitchat, just a detailed step by step guide. I feel confident enough to try it. Thank you 🎉
Wow, thank you!
Well done kiki. I usually pair mine with kunun tsamiya. Its a northern porridge made with tamarind juice and millet powder.
Simple recipe, calmly explained with ever so gentle tips that are very helpful. Thank you.
Thank go for explaining it so well :) especially the washing part. Also I had never seen anyone whisking it to make it fluffy. Those were great tips! Thanks 😊

Popular in Brazil too !
A diferença foi o feijão, nao conhecia feito com esse...
@@renatabacaleinick737 what do you make it with?
@@daringroses In Brazil we use another bean called 'feijão fradinho' and it's a typical dish from Bahia, not so easy to make (it takes a while).... but it's sooo good! I'll leave you a recipe. We name this 'ACARAJÉ'.
@@renatabacaleinick737 The descendants of slaves from Brazil make "acaraje" in Lagos Island in Nigeria. They lived in a community called Brazilian quarters.
@@FERESE wow!! Sarah, that's interesting new to me!! I'll make a research and take a look at it, thank you!
Thank you so muc, your recipes are so easy to make. Keep it up
Glad you like them!
just finished making mine. I found out that my kids prefer that the beans should be coarsely blended. They eat more than when it's smoothly blended.
❤❤❤
Ghana we all it KOOSE 😇❤🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪
Same thing Kosai, acaraje and it’s from Nigeria 🇳🇬 now eaten all over west Africa and also eaten in Brazil and the Caribbean taken by slaves.
Soo clean, voice so calm and video so detailed. Thank you!

The hausa people in nigeria also call it kose.
@@gideondominion that’s great
Such a lovely and informative video thank you so much for this.
Please do you know the reason behind soaking the beans overnight ?
Soaking makes it soft enough to blend
Yaay the voice is back! Let’s me sit pretty and watch .since I’m the only one here in the comment section 😍😬
You’re too sweet
Pls do u add maggi cube when making akara
Please were can i get this blender
Good morning ma , please is it a must to soak over night and is there a reason why.you soak over night?
Please Ma,I want to ask you whether that mixer is the rechargeable own or normal electricity own. Please answer me,I will so much appreciate ❤️
Yours is perfect, but mine did not come out like this, what make it seek before coming up
After blending the beans smoothly, use a hand mixer and whip for 10-15 minutes to make it fluffy like a whipped cream before adding your chopped onions and pepper and salt then fry.
How many ml of 💧 water pls. Thanks
🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬
My akara was too fluffy. Soaked up oil. What did I do wrong?
What is akamo
i made this and forgot about salt
I noticed you didn’t add bouillon cubes
Is that optional?
akara does not need bullion cube. plenty onions will do.
@@anuoluwapoadesakin9325 you are so right. No need for seasoning cubes.
Why wash off the back is full of nutrients do it whole it will give same result
What about Maggie
No need for maggi
