It nearly brings me to tears when Leila gets up and the "Zongazon, zongazongaze" lyric comes in. It's simply the point where the true nostalgia of this immense track really kicks in and takes your mind back 30 years.

I dread to think how many hundreds or perhaps even a thousand of times I had played Ms Leila K Open Sesame, it's as fresh to me as the first time I listened to it. Ultimately, that is the secret of a phenomenal and great recording in the history of dance music. My sincere respect to Ms Leila K, the production team and the record company that gambled in Ms Leila K. So many artists had stolen Ms Leila K's talent, namely Lady Gaga as some of your fans had pointed out. Still magical even to this very day, of the 31st January 2015!
+Mala Papachan I've always found it hypnotic. It sort of grabs my attention and leads me away but I never get to a destination. And I've not taken anything for ages.
I feel like my life's away when I listen to these kinde of songs. I still feel like I was 15 y.o. but now I realise that was decades ago. The beautiful thing of all this is that back in the 9T's, we thought life was going to be fine all the way long. Nowadays, things are way much different. And I'm happy I was born with time enough to live all that. Thanks be to God. P.L.U.R.
This is one of my favorite songs from the early 90's. Still remember being a child and watching the video clip, didn't understand what was going on but still liked it.
I've honestly been wracking my brain for the last 10 minutes trying to remember the lyrics to this song... havent heard it in years! thanks for posting this up here!
When I first heard Open Sesame in 1992, I watched the video and remembered being both rigid, static and hynoptised. I never ever saw the video again on English television. How lucky was I to watch the music programme by chance at the time as I would not have otherwise heard of Ms Leila K. I looked everywhere for the CD and had great difficulty finding it in England, coupled with the fact it was an import. This is one of my top 5 dance favourites of all time, and I dare any deejay or musician to write a piece like it. It is perfect on every scale as it was original, unique, it would smash any dance floor, had words in it I have never ever heard since such as zon ga zon zon ge zon ga zen? o wisa desa se dectar se willia dang deng? scelia betcho? Finally, "jumpa around if yer mind cann werk" places it on top as an intelligent dance track, rare in dance music. German manufactured, Denniz Pop/Douglas Carr production team, the slick deep bass and Ms Leila K's seasoned raspy silky voice that blended seamlessly with her guest singer. A Danish record label, you might think what do the Danes know about dance music? It is a dance masterpiece that will never ever be repeated, as it is simply impossible. I have absolutely knackered my Leila K cd, think it might time to get a new one.
Similar to mine, too. I only knew a remix on a sampler my sister owned back in 1993. She always told me that the original was much different but I hadn't seen it on MTV. One night I watched a TV show where men had to impress women with their dancing skills and the host said Open Sesame, the door opened with the swoosh sound of the intro, and a man came dancing to the beat. I didn't realize it was the song I always wanted to hear until she sang the words Leila K and abracadabra me say open sesame... I went totally mental because I loved this original version. Next day I went downtown to look for the CD here in my little home town in Germany. I was lucky to find the last CD of Open Sesame but it was more expensive than I thought. So I wouldn't have enough money for the bus. But I wanted the CD so bad, I walked home and all the way I stared at the CD with awe and imagined the joy of listening to it. Finally at home I played it on repeat and it became my all time favorite song. Until today!
