Was looking for this comment. Started using the slugger yesterday and I never want to stop. Being able to crit armored bots down at mid range is so nice.
The Punisher has a special place in my heart, even against armoured foes it does a good job at hitting weak points. I've bisected more than a few Berserkers with it. Good for both bots and bugs, a good workhorse of a gun.
If you use the slugger at close range, especially on weak enemies, the slug can penetrate enemies and get collaterals. Also if you are a stealth player it’s probably the best option for OHKOs rn
The slugger has more range than any of these on the list, and I find it great for killing automatons especially since it can stagger them being that if you hit the shoulder of the shield devastator’s they will stagger, and you will have a good window to do damage.
Shotgun tier list. S Incindiery breaker. A Slugger, breaker. B plasma shotgun, spray and pray, and arc shotgun. C Punisher. Shotguns better suited with terminids: Incindiery breaker, spray and pray, punisher, breaker. Automatons. Slugger, arc shotgun, and plasma shotgun.
Going anywhere in any bug mission without a Punisher Shotgun is a no from me, cuz the sheer stagger that thing causes enemies is chefs kiss (looking at you spewers and brood commanders)
The longevity, stagger, and power of the punisher is probably what I like most about it. I can go a really long time without a resupply. If I use the auto cannon properly, I can do even somewhat hard difficulties like 7 without ever needing a resupply.
I just tried the Slugger but I feel like it doesn't do much. Maybe I'm used to faster firing weapons as well, but I feel like the Slugger didn't do as much damage as I expected and I just have better options.
The punisher is my go to. Its powerful stagger makes it a wonderful weapon to halt the progress of Automaton berserkers as well. It has saved my life and the lives of my fellow divers many times
I wanna speak my praise of the Punisher I've noticed that when using it i've not really had to keep my sidearm for mid range fights like I thought I would. In fact I think it's a better anti bot weapon than anti bug so far (for me). It's grouping is still tight enough to use at a modest range of 30-ish meters. (up to 40-50 depending on group/enemy size and armor composition) It's been efficient on my learning on level 1-4 bot n bug missions what kinda does what *to what*. Now duh, I can't speak for high level. But all I hear everyone say is that high level bot missions is primarily devastators (not counting the heavy spawns and emplacements), but it still seems fine against the assorted "chaff" you fight on all difficulties. Raiders are so thin it can actually chew through and suppress them while you shoot at a Devastator or two in the middle of the group; Which you can kill in 2/3 hits to the stomach at short range, 4 if you are u lucky or are going for the legs instead. [If you're point blank you can split both devastators and berserkers in half with 2 with stomach shots] Pause. It of course breaks the head of Devs in 1 or 2 pretty easily. Hate all Commisars. Bullet in my back. And I forgot the most important thing for some reason: You can stagger all these medium and smaller enemies if you aim for the stomachs where almost every small/mid bot is thinnest, or the heads/shoulders to hit the joints/guns + stopping raiders from shooting accurately with the spread suppression and death as even at range a few shots will kill a comparative number of grouped raiders, while always chippint at whatever distinct part of a Devastator you're actually aiming for. It's a sick mid range weapon to force small bots to hide and hold big ones still for teammates or stratagems to handle. (I wanna add there is a spot where I have been able to kill devastators with the liberator without head popping, somewhere weird around the 'back plate' around the head and connecting to the shoulder, was able to kill with the Libb shooting there.) I joined the game half way into the 2 million bot order, I have pretty much fought nothing but terminators, some of it solo, for 4 days. LET ME OUT.
Noice, the punisher and breaker are the same from the first game but the breaker in that game has big spread and pretty short range and punisher doesnt pushback
Don't forget the Plasma Punisher. Maybe not the best choice for many, but it's actually really good if you give it a go. It does have a VERY different playstyle to the other shotguns though.
Slugger is always my prefered choice when fighting against the bots, i love to see my teammates reactions after they see me two shotting a shielder like if it was nothing
Im a big fan of the one/two tap guns like thr marksman rifles and senator. The slugger is basically a 16 round senator that can take down regular bots and devastators in one clean hit. Its the perfect balance between a senator and a marksman rifle that allows it to havr devastating damage wt a surprisingly fast firerate
Punisher is the best weapon in current build. Not just in the shotgun category but in the whole weapon. Reasons: 1. Crowd control avilable. It stops any light armor enemies. Even from distance! 2. Whopping total damage of 405. 3. 16+1 rounds and 60 total. Enough to do any CQC. And the round reloading mechanism is a cherry on top. of course, you can't penetrate hulk's face armor or other special medium to heavy armors(including bugs) but you don't have to do that with your main weapon in the first place.
Even post nerf, the breaker is my go to vs bots because it shreds berserkers, which seem to be resistant to heavy weapons. It just takes half a clip now instead of 2 shots.
Slugger is my go-to weapon and it’s proven incredibly useful against the clankers, staggering even heavy devastators. Plus I’ve been able to one-tap those damn bots at ~370m for my furthest kill so far!
Punisher: Typical boom-click-click. Your bread and butter. Slugger: Like the Punisher, but all that pain put into one merciless piece of metal instead of distributed amongst 12. Suffers from bullet drop and a brutally small window of error. But when it hits *everyone* feels it. Punisher Plasma: Like the Slugger but exaggerated and now with AoE, traded with clip reload. Blitzer: Literally the Arc Thrower but with a Napoleon complex Breaker: Legally distinct AA-12. Hope you memorized the resupply command. Breaker S&P: Birdshot rounds basically a vice-versa of the Slugger. Also more ammo. Breaker Incendiary: Remember the Dragon's Breath rounds from Black Ops? Yeah, this ain't quite that good but it's cool looking I guess. Fire doesn't seem to hurt as much if you're not a Helldiver.
The moment I gave the slugger a go, I was sold. Everything else just feels way too light to me now. If I don't feel my arms about to shred themselves from its own firing, it aint for me! Devastates devastators. Makes hulks out of hulks with a few to their back. Pushes and halts basically all aggressors (chargers couldn't care less about this though) and the ability to not lose ammunition on reload is a lifesaver for me. Slugger gang ftw!
I've tried different weapons but I always end up going back to the Standard Punisher. Even at range, it's fantastic. Point, click, problem solved. And I like that you reload one shell at a time, because I feel like it's never truly out of ammo, it just takes longer between each shot. Makes me feel safe.
There's a reason the punisher is the first gun many divers unlock. It's definitely the best shotgun in the game, extreme sustained fire, massive stun almost regardless of range, and highest base damage of any primary weapon. Just aim and hold the line
I don’t know about best. Definitely a great support weapon, and a solid performer. But it’s a bit one note, and really needs some other weapons mixed in to capitalize on the stagger effect. And if solo (or separated from the rest of the squad), the ammo capacity, damage output, and poor range do work against it. Especially as you start dealing with larger enemies (and more rocket bots). But if your squad has a breaker, slugger, defender, or liberator somewhere, it’s a great tool to give those the space to shine. And if someone in the squad is bringing the diligence, your punisher is going to be absolutely vital to helping them roll out the pain train.
@@chamberlane2899 "the ammo capacity, damage output, and poor range", so all the gun has is the knockback effect. I see so many people using that gun, and they get swarmed and killed all the time. If you can't kill a bug patrol solo and quickly you need to change guns.
@@Gerniaz yeah, more or less. To be fair to it, it does do quite a lot of damage point blank, but thanks to the knock back, you can’t just spam fire else the falloff starts messing you up. The damage falloff is pretty aggressive with range, so you need to let things get awfully close if you’re fighting alone. More than a bit problematic when any kind of spewer gets involved. It can also cancel a lot of enemy actions like calling reinforcements since it has a short stun effect. And thanks to its spread, you can do that over a wide area. Though if it’s anything big trying to call for aid, you’d better hope your teammates know to focus on that thing before you run out of ammo. So yeah, not a great damage dealer on its own, but if you stick to your team, it can make their jobs a heck of a lot easier and make bug breaches/bot drops a lot less frequent. You probably won’t have the highest kill count, but you’ll likely stop a couple chargers and titans from spawning in, which is always helpful.

Blitzer: Literally the Arc Thrower but with a Napoleon complex
Breaker: Legally distinct AA-12.
Would be interesting to include the double barrel shotgun
slugger was amazing and then while nerfing they thought "the giant chunk of metal in this should feel like 9mm so lets not have stagger"
sickle and stock liberator supremacy
Slugger makes me want a Western style carbine rifle to go with my revolver
A lever action repeating rifle kinda vibe? Winchester op
The moment I gave the slugger a go, I was sold. Everything else just feels way too light to me now. If I don't feel my arms about to shred themselves from its own firing, it aint for me!
Devastates devastators.
Makes hulks out of hulks with a few to their back.
Pushes and halts basically all aggressors (chargers couldn't care less about this though)
and the ability to not lose ammunition on reload is a lifesaver for me.
Punisher is my favourite as it makes me feel like i'm using a bolter
Should do the other shot guns 💪
the breaker is good for reloading after every 2.1 seconds due to lack of mag size
"The slugger is basically a bolt action rifle"
Literally pump action
