Can say from experience, clowning is a great way to get students to pay attention. Also cultural references. Playing video games and watching anime is genuinely useful!
Agreed! I worked with children from 2nd to 4th class and often when I tell people about it, the first thing I hear is "Ugh I could never". But just kinda being in the loop of what's popular with the kids right now makes it so much easier. Having that connection with your students instead of just the classic dry teacher/student interaction helps so much to make the school year more enjoyable for everyone involved.
yup unless you're teaching kids that's about to get their sats or gcse but yeah younger kids love the fun stress free atmosphere so they can absorb the knowledge better
Clowning is ok as long as the teacher still pays more attention in educating his pupils. (I basically learned nothing from my English teachers cos the structure was a mess)
I came here to say this! I pay my rent on time every fortnight (I'm in Australia) and I still get verbal abuse and eviction threats. Ya can't win either way.
I can comfortably say that regardless of how you make a cup of coffee it will mostly stay the same, the beans are about the only thing that affects the taste. Keep on being the best teacher

Japan is more strict (getting more strict each year) than other East Asian countries about foreigners coming to teach, but current qualifications for China are: - Bachelor's degree (any degree, you do not need a degree related to teaching to teach! Lots of countries work this way) - 2 years of teaching experience (can be interpreted very freely, volunteering at a Sunday school for your local church once in a while can be considered teaching) - a TEFL certificate (can be obtained online, easy course that takes about a month) - You DO NOT need to be a native speaker, but you need some form of credentials (PE teacher should have some form of experience with PE or coaching) Being a native speaker or having more relevant experience can help you negotiate a higher salary, but it's not necessary to start.
