Lyrics:
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down
ye-eah we wept, when we remembered Zion.
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down
ye-eah we wept, when we remembered Zion.
When the wicked
Carried us away in captivity
Required from us a song
Now how shall we sing the lord's song in a strange land
When the wicked
Carried us away in captivity
Requiering of us a song
Now how shall we sing the lord's song in a strange land
Let the words of our mouth and the meditations of our heart
be acceptable in thy sight here tonight
Let the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts
be acceptable in thy sight here tonight
By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down
ye-eah we wept, when we remembered Zion. - Hudba
My wife and I met when were 16 & marrired when we turned 20. We loved to dance, receiving many compliments. This was our favorite song. We danced to it for 70 years. She passed away 4 years ago. I hope the good Lord will reunite us and that we will be able to dance to it again...
Amen to that .... with love 🙏
Wow true love you fit man acknowledging your late wife I salute you for that,

I was 12 when this song was released, hardly new any word of English, now, by the power of memory talking to a friend about this song, I decided to hear it again. Oh, boy, what a powerful message. We all sang this song how we could, oblivious of the meaning it was conveying. God bless, Boney M. and Jamaica
this song never get's old.
Fun fact: the song was written over 2000 years ago
@@ideos2980 Right, by King David who was the first rapper on the world.

Greetings from Russia! Thank you for your songs) In the 70s and 80s, we danced at discos to your music. I didn't understand the song "Rivers of Babylon" then... I only understood it now, when I read the Psalms.
Wow. Are you Orthodox?
@@alangervasis Shalom. I didn’t understand it neither until now that I am committed to read the Torah🤗👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼HaShem’s people really went through so many trials🥲but there’s hope.

@@francisokudu1733 It's from Psalms.
I was born in 1991 and I remember my dad playing this album in the car. After many years of trying to remember the name of this song I finally found it. ❤
It's 2021 and a world that is in midst of a pandemic but this song never gets old. That's what evergreen songs are all about!
I cannot believe it is 40 years since I first heard this remarkable group, nothing like them exists in today's 'music' scheme (i.e synthesised noise) a retired 'Muso' myself, I reckon those wonderful years of real music, with melody and harmony and professional musicians has long gone.
Your are aware a lot of it is straight out of the bible?
I remember first hearing this with my friends when I was 5 years old in 1978 and its catchy melody has stayed with me ever since.
This piece is priceless. One fine memory from childhood!
I heard Boney M. for the first time while studying in France. They were, and are still I suspect, HUGE in France. Funny how they never really caught on here in the US. Long LIVE Boney M.! One of the all time greatest groups! Great memories indeed! xoxox P.
Liz the lead singer is still performing in her 70s 😊
Love their music, songs and style.. one of my all time favourite band ❤️BONEY M... We miss those days--your albums , walkman , ear phones, audio casettes ... nostalgic 💚..Loads of love from India❤️❤️❤️.. can never dream to get back this kinda aura and music 🎵🎵❤️❤️❤️💚👍.. and Liz Mitchell And Marcia barrett's voice and style wow hats off❤️💚
These are songs that are never repugnant; just keep living on and growing stronger and better like wine under the sea. Marvelous and beautiful.

I don't know if you're referencing New Vegas but if you are, nice!
Let those WHO have eyes and ears hear the truth
imagine these words also brings tears to mine eyes but renewed faith in my heart
by the rivers of babylon there we sat down,

It tells me this babylon is not our mt zion ,
is our home n it is a holy n advanced place n
we wept because we are missing our heavenly
home the emptiness we all feel inside only the
kingdom of mt zion can fill .
Psalm 19:14

Ah yes a Classic
disaient : Rasez, rasez
jusqu’à ses fondements !
Fille de Babel, la dévastée,
heureux qui te rend la pareille,
le mal que tu nous as fait !
Heureux qui saisit tes enfants,
et les écrase sur le roc !
REMARQUES

Awesome. I just learned about this for the first time from a friend in Croatia. Reminds me of Haiti where I have been 23 times. Haiti perseveres because its people honor and trust God. " May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be worthy of God, my Strength and Savior."
