    350z was my high school dream car and I finally purchased one in college. The VQ sound (when done right) is one of a kind. I'd suggest at least learning to drive with a more tame car because the base models don't even have traction control! (which can be a good thing)

    Being someone who lives in the UK and has just turned 21, it blows my mind that a 3.5L 350z is even considered a car for a student. Over here students tend to get small engined hatchbacks that cost next to nothing to buy, run and insure.

    • @seanodonnell6650
      @seanodonnell6650 Před 2 lety +49

      Yeah over here in the US it's not unusual to see "students" driving 350zs or other sporty cars like mustangs and challengers. Obviously it's not every student but there are kids with money or kids that got lucky and found a really good deal. I've seen quite a few sporty cars even at the Community College I went through.

      @@seanodonnell6650 I think it's mostly due to the difference insurance policies over here in the UK compared to the US. If i'm not mistaken, in the US, the vehicle is insured, not the driver. Whereas over here in the UK, the driver is insured, which is why our insurance is much more expensive for younger people to insure bigger engined cars (like a 350z).

    • @seanodonnell6650
      @seanodonnell6650 Před 2 lety +10

      @@ZeDamAQW Yeah in the US its the vehicle that is insured however they do take into who the driver is so it still is really expensive to insure a teenage driver, especially if you're a male. It's possible that more kids in the US keep their car on their parents insurance under a parents name. I'm 24 but took that route with my Z and I pay $260 every 6 months. It probably would have been around $500 or more if it was under my name 😂

    I just graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UW. I too, wanted to find something that would tie back in with my love for cars. Going through the classes was really cool because a lot of what you learn can be tied back. Especially Thermodynamics where you learn basics of combustion, different types of engines and how they produce power, or Machine Design II, where you learn about shafts and gears, or Machining class (it was an elective for me in my program), where you learn how to use lathes, mills, utilization of different metals/materials, Material Science class where you learn the strengths behaviors of different materials and how they can change, the list goes on. Best part about this particular field, is that we sort of fit anywhere. Its such a broad study and we cover so many different topics, that you can really apply to a lot of different engineering positions. It's not going to be easy and there is going to be a lot of nights studying with friends, empty pizza boxes, hours of dedication in the library, but I'll tell you now, it is very worth it. I hope this helps you decide, and good luck on your future

      If people just took care of their stuff, there wouldn’t be a problem. But so many high schoolers just dog the shit out of their 350s, because it’s their first car and it’s somewhat affordable for a sports car. It’s sad how many 350s are tore up because ppl can’t treat their cars with respect 😭😭. I’m going to be a senior and last year I drove an old Chevy blazer, and this year I’m gonna be in a 370z 🤧

    In basic no.
    Unless you make 15/hr and or live with your parents good luck.
    Common Z probs/Mods to fix
    Catch Can: $100
    Valve Co Gaskets:$100
    Diff Bushings: $200 w Tool
    Engine/Trans Mounts: $350
    Clutch Flywheel 5-6yrs: $700
    Suspension (shit ball joints/struts from factory) $600-2000
    Gas Mileage: 15-25MPG w 93 Octane @ $3.60/gal.
    Tires: $650
    Insurance: 150-300$/mo
    Payment if financed: 180-360/mo
    They are however fun to drive, crank everytime, meaning most of the issues are cosmetic or bushing/Mount related, very few electrical issues and overall are great, easy to drive and park, enough power for a daily drive without risking too much for teens that have trouble judging distance. (I.e pulling out into traffic). And tbh as long as your mirrors are set they have GREAT visibility believe it or not.
    If you’re working minimum wage and don’t have mechanical knowledge and or help I wouldn’t advise it.
    If you’re making double minimum wage and have some mechanical expertise, as well as access to tools then sure.
    So unless you buy a real minty Z, you’ll be replacing some parts, expect to spend 10k regardless. If you can afford either the payment or the parts while working part time, and have the time to install them yourself, or have a parent guardian to help you, then you’ll do great. If you don’t, then I would steer clear and buy something that won’t eat your money over 6 years time.

    Living in Singapore. Price of a car is extremely high unless you are a business director or owner earning in a steady income of 6-7 figures per year. Owning a car for most is a financial liability which could land in a infinite spiral of debt. Public transport are very feasible here with bus stops everywhere. Price of a used 370z GT can set you a hefty quotation of $200,000 excluding taxes while a brand new Alpine A110-S can easily set you $250,000. So most of the students do take public transportation.

    My guy,
    Most of us don't need school for what we really want to do.
    Whatever you enjoy doing, you can make money from. Like literally exploring your interest and vlogging them.
    It's only about the money at the end. What you want to do. Is not work. Make that money to build a life where you only play.
    That's the goal.
    I didn't need a shred of school to start my business and I make more then you ever will in any field working hourly.
    And I dropped out of school.
    I move furniture and make from 300 up to 900$ a day. And this is just the beggining.
    School is a hard waste of time unless you really really enjoy the academic fields. All you need to know is how to monetize and get customers, or followers or whatnot.

    The 350z in my opinion it's the best sports car for people that want to become a mechanic and make ur skills as a driver bcs most cars similar to 350z like the s2000 are expensive and the 350z it's reliable easy to work on and also i consider to buy it stock and not modified bcs most of them are really bad shape and are from people that mantain them really badly so that's my tip for the good sports car for biginners

    Don’t get me wrong, I like the 350z. Had a friend took me for a drive. His was live rear axle conversion, 370z rear end, and he says the previous owner did afew things under the hood and drag raced it. Idk what afew things under the hood means. It’s still N/A so could be a cam, tune the ECU, throttle body, fuel injectors, idk. It ran good. But it’s not for me, I’m in the market for a 2000 c5 corvette frc. If he still had his a that would had been hella fun just to take em down to heartland park for afew quarter mile runs. Both cars manual of course.
