Looks like he accidentally activated 2nd Gear, only used it to enhance his Bazooka and then imagines it as JET afterwards. His mimicry of Rokushiki's Soru is just his own way of replicating what the CP9 did without prior training. And that's how he came up with 2nd Gear.
To me it kind of feels like a scene from Dragon Ball Z movie world strongest where Goku use this a technique from king Kai from the show before he uses it on his opponent like Vegeta. Seeing Luffy do that in this movie feels like this is in the season before Luffy and the gang almost makes it to enie’s lobby

All of his skills were based on the surrounding experience, his opponent movement, fighting style etc. He said to blueno that he thought of a way to become stronger so that he can protect his nakama. When did he realizes the need to pump his blood to heightened his techniques? Thats what this studio trynna tell. By the way, when u guys said that he learn by watching the cp9 movement. He was talking about the soru that cp9 uses to move quickly/vanish. He said that they move by kicking the air ten times.
Which is funny now with the revelation of Nika and the power of imagination, we now know all of Luffy's forms is an extension of that. His forms never needed explanations. His powers bend the laws of physics and biology in whatever way he sees fit. He thinks it'll work, so it does.

Totally différent things. Luffy already knew G2 before using it against blueno, he knew exactly what he was doing, while g5 was a total surprise for him, so it didn't make any sense that he already used it before.

I like this version of him discovering Gear 2 way more. Its not just "Ayo I just did it cause I saw you do it lol" but rather him accidentally discovering it which I like more than a simple ass-pull lol EDIT: I meant it in the way of the ORIGIN of G2, not the quickstep. The quickstep is obviously copied from CP9 but overall it was directed towards the actual origin of how he came up / found out about G2.

It was because he and his crew got slaughtered and the opponents he was fighting were getting tougher and tougher from Crocodile to eneru to cp9 and he knew if he wanted to keep up he was going to need an edge to win so he got creative. Here it was just how I did I do that? oh well.

That's not "anime" and "live action" that's subbed and dubbed, if you dont like the english voices, the anime cast dubbed all the live action, just put the language in japanese

I can't believe that I'm the only one who finds it strange that he's fighting a meka that clearly weighs dozens of tons... no matter how fast Basuka is he would NEVER move it... let alone throw it away, now if it was coated in haki then the story would be different. in the end.. no and why it's a fantasy world where they can do whatever they want.
