I would venture to say Heiter's "immortality project" was Fern. The whole "spell" thing was just an excuse he made up to keep Frieren in place and ensure Fern would become her apprentice.

I think i must be a bizarre person : Frieren is the character I identify to and empathize the most with in this story. Must be my age :)

When Frieren mentions that she might be the only one who actually remembers her masters face you can see Himmel's body language change and then we get the scene where he says "We're not fairy tales, we really existed". As he points out people will eventually forget them and they will turn into a myth in the same manner it has happened to Flamme in other people's perspective than Frieren's own. In that sense she won't be alone with nobody to share her memories with like she is with Flamme. Like her scripts and spells are almost like a fairy tale at this point.

    Absolute realization

So happy to hear someone casually mention Blindsight, that novel deserves more attention

I think it's fascinating that almost everyone who watches this show sees Frieren as unrelatable, because to me, she's maybe the most relatable character I've seen in any work of fiction. I feel like I'm coming at this show from the exact opposite direction to everyone else. My problem, in a sense, is that my outlook on life is too much like Frieren's for someone who's not immortal. I joke that at least once per episode, she says something that I've said to my therapist.

Frieren in a crisis? Remember the start of episode 3 ^^

I starting to want him to react to Veggie Tales, because the Veggies have no hands.

  • @andrewlucaschism

Pretty sure the elves immortality project in this is just being biologically immortal.

  • @janleslielvaas3211

The manga indicates that elves are immortal, but they are not unkillable.

  • @aoironph

You reacting to Hibike Euphonium to me is so fun to think of. Hope you get to it someday.

  • @juanthegreat3954

Imagine being a demon thinking that you could kill the same mage from the party that killed your king? Lol

Hello! I wanted to ask: are your discussions on Frieren 10+11 available somewhere? I can't find them in your Twitch VODs.

  • @dagonofthedepths

So if you take someone's hands does that mean you have more agents of change? Is hand trophies the key to good mental health? Hmmm...... must find enemies and a hatchet.......

    BLINDSIGHT MENTIONED

You can fuel your hand-kink in at least one episode of A Place further than the Universe

  • @Scyon13

Safety and survival are her primary priorities, that's why she's not afraid to run away from or avoid conflict it's also why she never goes into a fight head on and unless she knows she can win.

  • @Despotic_Waffle

I think since reproduction is our way to achieve immortality, its immediately checked off or low priority on an elf's hiearchy of needs since they are quite literally immortal
