I think this is a very interesting development. It would've been really interesting if the video went into more depth about where we're currently at in this research field. What kind of plastics can and can't be broken down? How quickly is it broken down? At what scale are we currently able to break down plastic with fungi? How scalable is it? Basically what I'm interested in is what specifically is this technology good at and what are the limitations?

Great questions. Most of the common ones like PE, PP, PET etc. Speed varies from conditions and treatments a lot but at least around 50-100x faster than in nature by themselves. Many top universities are working on validating the science, but very few for-profit companies are yet commercialising something scalable. Hope this helps!
