In case there is doubt: Polar Bear “safaris” are strictly illegal on Svalbard. Chasing down polar bears on snowmobiles is illegal. Disturbing the bears in any way - for photos or anything else - is illegal.
Section 30 states: «It is prohibited to lure, feed, pursue or otherwise SEEK OUT polar bears in a manner that DISTURBS or causes danger to people or polar bears.» Violation of this section may result in fines and imprisonment.
