Carl's analytic psychology is primarily characterized by its hypothesis regarding the existence of a collective unconscious. Freud had defended the existence of an unconscious part of the psyche that manifests itself through dreams or psychological problems.
This video is dedicated to explaining the main manifestations of the unconscious, both collective and individual, which, according to Jung, are conveyed through archetypes and complexes. The contents of the personal unconscious are fundamentally complexes, while the contents of the collective unconscious are called archetypes.
Jung maintains the concept of the Freudian unconscious, which is of an individual type, within his framework. Although its components, ego, and superego, are not the same, for Jung, the important discovery lies in the collective unconscious shared by all human beings.
This collective unconscious has been inherited since the emergence of humanity as a species. Jung conceived the possibility of its existence through his studies of ancient and primitive cultures, examining myths, religions, and symbols found in these cultural manifestations.
He observed that many of these symbols reappeared in the content of dreams, thus emphasizing the importance of reading. These writings provided data on dream images recurring across ages.
Through his anthropological studies and medical practice, Carl Jung gained a deeper understanding of the hypothetical components of this collective unconscious and its influence on individual behavior
