    Very useful, guys and I agree as I'm a heavy user of VST, works great. Usually I render the Track and mute the originals. However, there's one thing I wanted to point out. Take care that you do not render/free all (!) the individual tracks to mono. The room mics and overheads for example are stereo. And make sure you pan the tracks centered (like toms or hats) before rendering them.

    Hi Paul, thank you for a very useful video (like the rest of all your others). You mentioned in passing that if outboard sounds are used a different method altogether of rendering is required. This is my problem at the moment. Do you have a specific video on this topic, in which case I would be grateful if you could share the link. And if not, could you give a few words of advice with this regard? Many thanks indeed.

    Working with a client who is struggling with routing MIDI tracks from one track to another. Such as when you have a VST playing an arp and you want to capture the MIDI data (not the audio) of the arp AFTER the MIDI notes go through the VST. This is easy peasy in Ableton, but I ma finding it very difficult to locate this option in Reaper. Do you have a video on this topic?

    I received drums from my drummer all as one big midi file. So i hit the explode midi item by pitch option so now i have like 16 tracks of individual drum pieces. Trouble is, when i render the midi tracks i end up with blank wav files, presumably because the audio is coming from the original track that i exploded. Is there a way around this?

    Thanks for the video. In my case I have MIDI notes but I play them out to my MIDI keyboard, which has headphones plugged into it. This is how I am able to hear the sounds. However if I turn off my MIDI keyboard then there is no way the MIDI notes can be heard. How can I render the MIDI track via my MIDI keyboard (to catch whatever sound settings I have put there), before going to a WAV track? Thanks!

    • @pierrebroccoli.9396
      @pierrebroccoli.9396 Před 3 měsíci

      I would assume you are using your midi keyboard as the audio interface using inbuilt sounds like a digi piano? If that is that case you would have to rout the audio out of your keyboard to your computer to record the sounds. That or use VSTs in reaper on your computer to make the sound by using your keyboard only for midi input and having a computer audio interface.....

    • @fireloks6362

      Without freezing them. Bounce so they're like normal audio tracks. Bounce straight from the main Midi file to separate audio files on the tracks. (Hopefully I'm making sense) If not, I can make a quick video using Pro Tools to show you what I mean.

    I love reaper and desperately want to stay but there is ONE THING that is almost about going to force me to switch out and it has to do with vst's... Like say I record a song using Trillian for bass.. When I go to bounce or convert to wav it will cut the tails of the notes or just drop notes all together. I've asked, looked at settings, etc and nothing... I cam get past the ugly case of how customizable it is.. But that handling of vst's when converting has been wearing me down... Other then that it's a phenomenal DAW

    • @ExisteDiosInc
      @ExisteDiosInc Před 6 lety

      George Falconer I feel you. For me it's usually bass vst's. Trillian or Scarbee.. Notes just drop or cut off when rendering. Maybe one day someone will figure it out. Cause I've asked all these guys that make tutorials and none of them ever respond. I've asked in the forums and also no response...

    May I ask whats the proper routing for this from the midi instrument channel? When I render all the midi tracks end up on one mono wav track? Thanks in advance.

    • @ReapertvUk
      @ReapertvUk  Před 6 lety

      Are you rendering to a mono track or a stereo track when you choose to render the midi sequence?
      Also, if you are using multiple tracks being routed (i.e. 16 channel drums) ensure you select ALL tracks and then choose to render to mono or stereo, depending on the track type... for example, individual drum tracks would normally be mono and panned as required.

    • @Colly84
      @Colly84 Před 6 lety

      Apologies, my original question should've stated when I render that all the midi tracks end up on one stereo wav track, not mono track as I mentioned. Currently I'm trying to render to the 6 stereo tracks that preload when I load drumatic as a vst instrument. However when I select the six tracks to render to and select render only the first stereo track renders as a wav file with wave forms and the other 5 are blank wavs. I'm sure its a simple fix but I can't seem to find a solution. Thanks.

    • @ReapertvUk
      @ReapertvUk  Před 6 lety

      Colin O' Dwyer when you play your track back, do you see the meters on all 6 tracks displaying a signal? If not, you'll need to route the audio from your drum VST to the relevant tracks. I've never used the VST you mention so no idea how the multichannel routing would work. It should be pretty straightforward though. That should then allow rendering of all tracks correctly.

    • @ReapertvUk
      @ReapertvUk  Před 7 lety +2

      No, it's not necessary. You can mix the midi without any issue, but if you intend to outsource or share the work with others, rendering is the best option as it means they don't need to have the same VST's installed to be able to work on your music.

    • @zhugeliang1000
      @zhugeliang1000 Před 7 lety

      Ben Art Vincent Hello, you cannot, under normal circumstances, make a MIDI recording from an audio file. I know Live has an option to create a MIDI file from audio with either monophonic, polyphonic, or rhythmic considerations but that is just computer analysis magic...not accurate, just a cool trick. Remember, MIDI is nothing more than a bunch of control signals used to trigger a sound generating source (external hardware or software...heck even lights)
