Pattaya Airport to Koh Samui. No need to go all the way to Bangkok

- Did you know you can fly from Pattaya to Koh samui with Bangkok Airlines. Its Fast, efficient, and no need to go all the way to Bangkok. It takes 45 mins from Pattaya in a taxi, and just around an hour flying time.
Ko Samui, one of Thailand’s largest islands in the Gulf of Thailand, is known for its palm-fringed beaches circling coconut groves and dense, mountainous rainforest. It’s also home to luxury resorts, posh spas and a rowdy nightlife scene that often attracts a backpacker crowd. The 12m-tall golden Big Buddha statue at Wat Phra Yai temple is a local landmark.

I fly in june from utapao to koh samui. Stay a week there and back . About 30 minutes drive to jomtien afterm
Utapao airport was the easiest and fastest Airport i ever checked in. My bag on backflight came in 5 minutes after landing. My taxi driver ( Bolt) to jomtien was waiting. Everything quick and stressless.

If you go to Chaweng to stay, try Akwa Guesthouse.. Very cheap and owned by an Australian so decent and breakfast is good.

I've flown into U-Tapao a couple of times from Phuket... the first time the Thai army were filming everybody getting off the plane. Im sure Russian charter flights use this airport as well. Bangkok Airways are a great airline...them ATRs are a really safe aircraft and can easily fly on one engine and could you imagine BA dishing out that kind of meal on a one hour flight and giving you a free lounge for all its passengers to use...Bangkok Airways certainly know how to treat their customers.

geoff been there loads of times mate if you need anything give us a shout.one word of caution if you rent a bike dont go mad on the front brake as a lot of the roads are sandy and can throw you off seen loads of bike accidents over the years.great island though big price difference to patts

I've flown out of Utapao aiport many times to Samui or Phuket. Very relaxed & calm Airport but I'll agree the plane ride has always been bumpy but on the good side the plane has never been full so 9/10 I'll have a whole row to yourself

3 star hotels are always a crap shoot. I find it's about 50/50. Sometime you score & sometimes you're shafted. A tip if you haven't booked a Pattya Hotel, is to tell your taxi man to take you to several "NEW" Hotels. Frequently these have not all the Hotel Booking Plans connected. They may provide massive discounts, just to get people into the rooms. This has worked for me several times.

G-Day Geoff, Jeff from Australia here. The airport near Rayong on the military base is great, I've done it once and I can tell you I would recommend it to anyone. Did you like the fantisy island ride at the airport?
I love your videos, but I do have a suggestion for these travel videos: perhaps could you edit in an Indian jones type map so we will be able to see where you are heading. Just a thought so we will know about where these places are in relation to Pattaya.

Easy peasy...that's the way to get to Samui from Pattaya. Are there flights to Phuket as well?
Rather amusing people making comments about the plane. Guess they haven't flown around much. It's a turboprop. Uses jet engines. I've flown in lot's of them. Flew from Bangkok to Siem Riep, Cambodia in one and flew them from Manila to Boracay. A lot of the smaller regional airports don't have the volume of passengers or the runways to handle bigger aircraft like 737's and such. They are comfortable and safe. If you do any hopping about with smaller airlines you will ride in one.
