The wider one would be best.
Theres a smaller one that fits inside the wider one
The wider one is spouse to be at the bottom . So use the wider one .
Could you please tell me whats the weight of this rangehood? The one we bought is 45lb and it won't installed with support of studs either, just curios if any heavy duty achors (toggles) would provide enough support if exhaust is on ?
U can 45 lb is pretty light

What is the distance from the bottom of the range hood to the mounting screws please?

There's a few things that matters before u actually worry about the exact hight.

@@renovationschool8818 I bought a range hood and the mounting bracket is substantially above the motor and the bottom of the hood, consequently I can’t use it unless a) the bracket ends up over the vent hole in the wall or b) it will be very low (like 20 inches over the cook top) so I just want to know if Samsungs are shorter distance before I buy it
Usually around 30 to 34 inch from the top of the countertop to the bottom part of the range hood is good enough
That being said if the cover on the very top part of your vent can reach all the way to the ceiling.
Sometimes you can install it a little bit higher than the max just so you can have the chimney cover cover up that pipe
