- I went OTB (Over The Bars) back in June.
Some would say it was a "freak accident" but watching the footage back, I can hear the squeaking...
Needless to say, I'm staying on top of bike maintenance....
Hope you enjoy watching the joyful lead up, the incident and the what just happened analysis.
Ok kids one key lesson for today, this is a great example of get a good helmet to protect your head! Glad you had a good helmet and not some super light xc helmet from a no name Amazon company!
So true. Maybe wearing a full face as much as I do is overkill… but maybe it’s not. :-)
Ouch man! What an awful crash and a horrible place to land. I agree, praise the Lord you’re okay 😅
Amen!
Proving one again FF Helmets are essential! So glad you are ok and excellent post-crash analysis. Stem bolts loose?
Agree!Yes sir. Loose stem.
@@TheOzLife OOFFFFF that's a killer! See you out on the OZ trails bud, only guy I know riding a 160E!
WOW! Glad your OK. This is nothing to be ashamed of, its just a reminder this is it can happen to anyone at any time. Really gotta be careful when you’re out there on solo runs. Actually you were being careful, you took the B line instead of the main line and it still happened. We could’ve done a bike check before we left, but things can still come loose with the jumps and the bumps and all the rattling around that goes on when we mountain bike.
So true. You better believe I'm getting the use out of my new Torque wrench! :-)
Immediately goes to tighten the handlebars on all my bikes 😆 Glad you’re ok dude.
Hahaha exactly
Thanks Tall Guy
That was the best damn bike crash video and analysis that I've ever seen! I'll be sure to check out the scene of the crime when I get back to Bentonville in a couple weeks.
Hey Thanks! I’m not looking to be a crash channel but figured I could share the real real that happened.
I’m heading to Bentonville 10/31 for the week & trying to decide which helmet to bring since we’re skipping Leatherwood, Ponca & Nebo this trip. You just made my mind up for me. Thanks & hope you’re feeling better. Also, I’m staying off Tiger & A near LL & HD. Can you share more details about how you’re accessing Coler from 12th? Thanks
Also, is there much night riding at Coler or Slaughter Pen? My buddy & I will be working some of the days we’re there & hoping early & late rides with lights is ok. Thanks
For sure. Some great night riding. I prefer the lunch ride and depending on where your business takes you it's REALLY easy to pop out for a ride.
There are also a few group rides. Tuesday evenings at Coler. Monday - Gravel from Meteor. Also Monday - E-MTB shred (Location TBD) Wednesday Night - FAST Ride (Location TBD)
Thanks. Not into gravel or fast riding, prefer sessioning, love jump areas. No car, renting Orbea Rise, only work will be from house which is why I’m curious about how you access Coler from 12th. Thanks
Dude..!
Yes, thank you God for helmets and another day to ride / be with your family!
Guess who is moving into that home @ the cul de sac next to Jack In January??
Are you shready!?
Awesome! Jack was telling me he found someone who likes e-MTB's MORE than I do! lol Love it. Welcome to the neighborhood!
I have same bike and have a creak coming from the fork. Took it to dealer and said this happens with internals on some of the fox 38s. They said just have to ship it back and Fox will replace.
Interested to know anything else you find out on yours though so I can look out for it on mine. Glad you’re alright
The bike has been awesome. I'm not a great mechanic (Captain Obvious) but I've had a few loose bolts... One bolt snap when tightening it (rear control arm). I've had to replace 2 of the dropper posts... they start rubbing and sticking... So far rock shox has warranty replaced both. I also BLEW up the rear shock... also Warranty replaced. To be fair to all those bike parts... I'm a big guy and I don't ride it easy. :-)
@@TheOzLife I have had an issue with my dropper as well. Seems to be a common issue. I’m a bigger guy as well but love the bike. I haven’t sent my fork off for the creaking noise yet as the dealer said it won’t effect the functions of the fork. Just kind of annoying to listen to when hitting larger bumps.
did you scratch the friggin frame bro? IS THE BIKE OKAY?
lol great question! It's totally fine. One scratch on the rear triangle. No carbon damage!
Had a chance to tear it apart yet and see what happened? Curious what the squeak was. BTW, Nice bike!
Yes, The bolts were LOOSE. After a recent service I don't think they were tightened properly...funny enough. I went to text the mechanic and cache message said "I get the feeling my stem is loose"...
@@TheOzLife I've had some issues getting regular maintenance at a few shops around here (Rogers/Bentonville), one like yours that could have been disastrous if it happened 10 minutes before it did. It's a motivator to bite the bullet and go buy the specific tools necessary to do it myself. Good to hear you were riding the next day. Someone/something was most definitely watching out for you.
Always enjoy the vids. They allow for a sneak peek at all the trails/trail systems before going. It is appreciated.
@@kingdomcome1617 Phat Tire bike shop has been the best for me... I tried a different mechanic and this happened soon after! Either way, YES, get the right tools. :-)
@@TheOzLife I've had good luck with Phat Tire in Rogers as well. Thanks for the confirmation. Stay safe out there.
That’s insane my man glad you are ok . Broken neck and or paralyzed is real . Praise God is right 🙏🏼.
Praise God!
