BIZARRE 4-Speed Door! Generic Traction Elevator - 65 E Broadway - New York, NY

[Recorded May 2024] This thing is WEIRD!!! It opens right onto the sidewalk and I almost walked by it since it blended in with all the crap along the building. Tyler wasn't going to film it because it was just another boring generic elevator with Monitor fixtures. However, once the doors open and revealed the crazy 4-speed door, it was a must-film. I have NEVER seen such a door on an elevator, and I was definitely not expecting it to move the way it did. It almost seems like it's not working properly lol. But yes, this is an elevator to check out for sure if you're ever in the area. That door alone makes it more unique than 90% of the other elevators in Chinatown.

WOW... I have seen 4 speed doors before in videos (in Europe, I think), but I think this is the one and only elevator in the US I have seen with them. The way they open is really weird. I wonder if it has anything to do with 4-speed door mechanisms not being readily available (at least in the US) and they decided to instead to simply not use an actual door mechanism.
