    Hi there.
    I hope you can help, i have a HSC student wanting to make a hollowed out resin heart and lungs she is sculpting out of paper clay.
    I wondered if you know: can she use 'art mount board with a glue gun to seal, instead of wood?
    Then would she need to 'fire' the clay or could we just use the clay mould once air dried.
    Then what would we coat if anything, the clay with, so it pops nicely out of the alginate.
    We only need to make one, but if it isn't right or goes wrong, we would need to make another.
    It would be about A3 size.
    Thank you in advance.
    Any other tips welcome.

      @EricStrebel  Před 4 měsíci

      You can make the sidewalls out of anything you want just seal it with a coat of shellac including what she's sculpting and you should be able to pull a mold with the alginate. Remember alginate shrinks you need to move fast as soon as you make that mold you need to cast something into it.

Pour the resin into a hollow mold, then put it on a rotator to continuously coat the inside of the mold with resin, the shell will harden quicker than the liquid center, causing the liquid to coat the mold in a constant thickness. • @greggv8
      @greggv8 Před 4 lety +2

      @@My2Cents1 use a pressure tank. It's easy to change a 2.5 gallon Harbor Freight paint pressure tank for resin casting. All you have to take off is the dip tube and the top side fitting above it. Buy a second gauge and screw it into the lid there. That is the gauge you trust because it's directly measuring the pressure in the tank. Get a pipe plug for the spray gun air outlet on the regulator. Install the ball valve on the regulator inlet, and the air hose quick connect on the ball valve. Install the gauge supplied with the tank onto the regulator where it's supposed to go, if not already installed. Install the regulator onto the T fitting where it's intended to go. No need to move the pressure relief valve.
      People keep doing this the hard way, and not as safe as it should be. I've yet to find a video on CZcams where a gauge is installed to directly read the tank pressure. There's at least one video where a guy took everything off the top of the lid, hacksawed off the dip tube instead of unscrewing it. He move the relief valve to the dip tube hole then put the ball valve directly onto the air inlet hole. No gauges! No regulator! I assume he relies on the compressor to regulate the pressure, yikes!

      Thanks bud! I actually ended up getting a pressure tank and it did save me a lot of trouble. It's not configured the way you recommend though. The gauge is on the pump - and sometimes I do have another problem now where the rubber molds get slightly deformed if the pressure is too high. I've actually been suspecting it's for the very reason you talk about here. There needs to be a gauge on the tank itself. Now I know what I have to do to fix it. You must be a mind reader or something. Thanks a lot!

      Art Craft Just make a thinner clay surface and you will need to take more time to finish the inside. Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video. Feel free to share on social media

    Music is annoyingly distracting with it's compressor duck pumping. You're pretty soft spoken anyway. Vox nearly buried in the trance mix.

      Craig Lumpy Lemke your the only one to mention it....Curious what your set up is, what kind of speakers are you using, what type of device are you viewing the video?

      I agree with the comment about the music being annoying. I don't know the term "compressor duck pumping".
      I'm using a laptop computer with 2 earbuds.
      From the start until 0:34 has a 2 hz beat, but there is nothing in the video to support that beat.
      From 0:36 you changed the beat and move it and the music to only one channel,
      I am able to remove one earbud to not hear the noise.
      After the monologue is done, at 5:17 the music moves back to both channels, but the 'important stuff' has been said.

      I did not mind the music. I'm on a mac with full surround speaker system and subwoofer. Didn't have a problem hearing what you said, and although you are very soft spoken, it comes out nice and clear.

      Color samples for automotive, the green one is a sample of that. Don't have any display samples used at trade show, I would like have that as well. Thanks for your comment, feel free to share on social media. BTW what web site is running this video right now?
