- Mistakes in this video:
1. For Phoenix, if you don't find Fire Feather on your 1st trip to Kawrea, you will need at least 200 Int to find it in the bigger Kawrea map at 6:45
2. For Ducken, you will need at least 350 Int to find Strong Glue at 8:10
3. For Durahan, you will need at least 300 Int to find Old Sheath at 9:40
4. For Joker, your monster will need a minimum of 300 Ski to find Mask at 16:00
5. I made a mistake in the video at 20:23. The last item added to the shop is Manseitan, not Troron. So the correct description is: "If you don't reach 4th rank before Manseitan gets added to the shop, Mock will be forever locked for you."
6. To get Hot Springs (for Niton, Undine, Zilla) at 20:46, your Hopper will need to have 0 Fatigue and less than 30 Stress in Winter, so if your Hopper doesn't dig up Hot Springs after resting, give it Mint Leaf, then rest
7. For Zilla, you need to have your barn upgraded at least once in addition to the prerequisites mentioned at 22:21 (special thanks to Steven Morton for the info)
8. For Dragon, you need to have your barn upgraded and participated in IMa vs FIMBA in addition to the prerequisites mentioned at 23:51 (again, thank you Steven Morton for the info)
9. For Jill, you will need at least 500 Int to find Big Footstep at 26:36
10. For Metalner, you need a monster that is B-grade or above in addition to the prerequisites mentioned at 30:00

Same here! I wish that Koei Tecmo brought back the mechanic of using the CDs you own and getting monsters out of them. The problem with porting the games to the Switch is that, well, it doesn't use CDs. You would have to count on the database. I bet there are still many CDs out there that haven't been added to the database. Plus, to be able to get monsters out of Blu-Ray discs would be epic! If only Nintendo and Koei Tecmo worked together to make a CD drive where you can connect it to the Switch wirelessly and use the CDs you own.
It would also be great if Sony would get of their highhorses, that way we can get Monster Rancher 6 for the PS5.
That Suezo Eye Beam remains undefeated lolz! Anyway thanks for this vid as it will certainly help get more unlocks at the shrine. Its frustrating when Chaille keeps saying the line "I regret to tell you but...". I'm sure this took quite a bit of time to do as well so props. Its amazing how much hidden content they added to this game for discovery. Really added to the replay value/longevity though.
Remember my first boi was the green zuum..
She was a strong little dino and i love her. Maxed out spd and atk and i can finish anything with her one shot ult, even my friend dropped his jaw when he got one shot with his majestic maxed out phoenix, "A basic monster like this can compete with rare monster like mine guess you raised her really really good" he says.
But one day she fallen ill and gone, i will always remember her as my first best friend in this game. Good times..
very well done, not many people, even at my age, can get to this point on MH2. the odds of lining things up AND keeping the farm going (without codes and without scum saving), are pretty low.

Especially as this game was released before the internet...so you couldn't look up anywhere how to unlock Monsters. Even the Instruction Manual said nothing lol
Watching this video makes me wonder how the Game Developers ever expected the teenagers playing this guy to figure out such complicated timings to unlock just one rare monster?! Lol
With so many CDs still being released worldwide, who knows what monsters are being created within them. That is what keeps me attached to the original games!
When you unknowingly unlocked some of these monsters just by playing the game. I didn’t even know all the requirements for specific unlocks and it still happened. So cool!
I forgot how attached I used to get to the monsters. Getting them into S Rank and dominating was so difficult as a kid and by then they were one expedition from death lol.

First of all, much love for the video! awesome, and good job.
But man, these older games in our times were just so tough. I mean, you could never get all these monster if you just proceeded "naturally" in the game with no guide whatsoever. I remember how i tried many times to reverse engineer the rare (locked) monsters with their combined variations in non-locked monster forms which i got from only God knows how many random PS and non PS CDs i used XD
I wish I stumbled upon these guides back in the days. but oh well, more reasons to replay it again now :)
I agree man, my dream in life was to unlock that one whale monster but for the love of God, I can't seem to figure it out. Though, I remember the first time unlocking Phoenix on my own, and that was the best experience I have with games like these and was my favourite monster of all time.
It may be tough, but discovering things on your own is really accomplishing, but god damn does it take a long time lol

I really appreciate this guide. I recently picked up MR2 again for the first time in a while and I was unsure on how to unlock certain monsters, with Worm, Mew, Henger, Gali, and Phoenix being the exceptions (though I don't actually plan the first four, at least in previous playthroughs, as I tend to stumble into the needed tournaments by accident, as I was pretty bad at keeping track of when they were). Thanks to this guide I've managed to unlock the five aforementioned Mons, Joker, Ducken, Nitron, Undine, Golem, Baku, and technically Mock and Zilla (though I still need the Zilla Beard). I haven't unlocked Ghost yet because I'm cost conscious (see: cheap) when it comes to games, especially early on, though now that I know the prices of the altars I'll make the effort to do so, and I haven't unlocked Beaklon just yet (though I can, I just forgot the C Rank bit when I raised my Express Worm since he was doing so good in tournaments that I jumped to the next rank too early out of excitement). Really, though, this guide is great.
Also, something I noticed with your monsters' stats. It appears that Defense is a useless stat, as evident by both your Suezo and Hopper. So does that mean raising Defense is a waste of time? Thanks in advance if you answer me on this. Again, great guide.
Defense is not entirely useless, but it's the least important stat. Defense only takes effect when your monster's defense is higher level than your opponent's offensive stat (power or intelligence depending on the move)
Suezos and Hoppers have low gains in life and defense, that's why I didn't train them in defense. Note, the reason low gains in life affects training defense is because of the Swim Bug where the increase in defense is calculated from Life gains instead of Defense when training Swim

So for Mons that are more glass cannon/fragile speedsters such as Pixies, Tigers, Suezos, and so on, it's better to pretty much ignore Defense and focus more on stats like Life and Speed. Considering that those type of monsters are my preferred types, I appreciate the info. I always learn something new about MR games that I never knew before unless I used the scientific method. Thanks for the response. And, again, great guide, as it really helped decode some of the game's more obscure secrets on monster unlocking.

I have no access in the faqs during that time... And raising a monster which have enough intelligence was quite a task since attacks were commonly power type, I am also disgusted with suezo thus not playing it and further that monster I am about to sacrifice was even my most powerful ones... I tried doing the pare pare expedition and I got gold peach and old sheet without realising what it was... But according to evaluation via quest its great... And the week after, MY MONSTER DIED... I was sad back then with only weird items and mock that time... And you know what was coming...
same, When It happened to me, I literally got so sad, I almost stopped playing the game. I literally try to be incredibly careful with my monster, because I always get incredibly attached to it.
There are a few details that were overlooked and one that is inaccurate.
Mock: Mock is sealed once Manseitan is released at the Shop, not Troron.
Zilla: Need the 1st barn upgrade
Dragon: Need the 1st barn upgrade. Need to have participated in IMa-FIMBA at least once.
Metalner: Need the 2nd barn upgrade.

For Metalner, I'm 100% sure you don't need any barn upgrades to unlock. I've unlocked Metalner without any barn upgrades before.

The first monster I decided to raise was a Trident. I think I got it from a Nickelback CD. I loved that monster even though he had run away a few times. When he died I was devastated.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the cutscene happens on the 3rd week of March and you need to be present on the ranch at that time (can't be on Errantry)

Hey Teawch, any truth to the previous assumption (from years ago) that the Worm needs to have never been tired or stressed to turn into Beaclon?
I wanna unlock Beaclon but I don't feel like resting my worm every week for 4 years just to unlock it.
No, it's not true. The Worm I raised for this video was both stressed out and spoiled, just for the sake of disproving that assumption.
The only things that matter are:
1. Worm is between 4-5 years old
2. C rank or below
3. Loyalty at least 80 on 4wk Jun
4. 0 Fatigue and less than 7 stress on 4wk Jun (if you give your Worm Mint Leaf then rest on 3wk Jun, it should cocoon)
5. 30 Cup Jellies fed (or you won't get Beaclon from the cocoon)

Shogun (Durahan/???) cannot learn Charge, however, it can learn Gust Slash, which normal Durahans can't learn

Hi teawch! I've gotten Beaclon with its inherited techniques, including Punch, Heavy Punch, Maximal Punch, Horn Strike, and Horn Attack. Since I want to combine this monster to raise another Beaclon, is my current Beaclon considered to have used Punch, Heavy Punch, and Horn Strike 50 times? I'm asking this because I want my second Beaclon to acquire techniques more easily. 😊
Yes, your Beaclon is considered to have used Punch, Heavy Punch, and Horn Strike 50 times.
Note that your second Beaclon has to have Heavy these techniques when it's born to have that x50 in the techniques. For example, if your second Beaclon does not have Heavy Punch at the start, once it learns Heavy Punch, it will have 0 uses of Heavy Punch and you will have to use Heavy Punch 30 times again before it can learn Maximal Punch

After playing this during adulthood, I just realized that Pabs is kind of ignorant. Coaxing you into raising a Wracky, using the Joker mask carelessly and etc.
Metalner says to spread his clones all over the world, Pabs just says "ok"

Are there any emulators that can "read from cd" to get the monsters? Because some of these monsters are impossible to get without using that method
ePSXe 2.0.5 can read from CDs if you have a CD drive. If you don't have a CD drive, you can use a program called ImgDrive to create a virtual CD drive

Moo is unlocked at the same time as Dragon, you just need the right CD at the Shrine after unlocking Dragon.
Blue Phoenix cannot be trained, but you unlock it after unlocking Phoenix. You need to send a monster that's B class or above to Kawrea Errantry. Once you encounter it, you will get Blue Phoenix's card.

Bondacious Flame Lifespan stays the same. For example, if your Worm has 160 weeks left the day it became a Beaclon, the Beaclon will have 160 weeks left in its life

Look at your Worm's Style. If it is Even, Strict, Harsh, or Spartan, praise it
If it is Soft, Fond, or Doting, scold it
How sbout stress or spoiled?and the best breeding time?
Feed your Worm Mint Leaf if you think it's going to get stressed. Getting stressed out won't prevent your Worm from cocooning, it's an old rumor that has been disproven.
You don't need to worry about spoil, just keep your Worm's loyalty above 80
Your Worm must be above 4 years, but less than 5 years for it to cocoon
Lastly, don't go above C rank
I don't know what you mean by best breeding time
Should we need to skip all the battle , errantry and expectition?
It's up to you. Just don't do the C rank Official Cup (so you don't go above C rank)
Okay, so what I learned from the alien scenes
They want you to realease all the monsters so their clones can be free, so you go behind their back and instead make clones of them
That’s just sad for the metalners

If you have a CD writer, you can write your own CDs. I used to write my own to get rare monsters
