Off Broadway 1981 Cable TV Champaign, IL. Video quality is not great. Band sounds great! Cliff is in great voice. Ivan keeps his guitar roadie very busy.
'The Holy Grail Video' as it came to be known. Thanks for uploading it. Off Broadway should have conquered the world. This is a fine example of the band in top form.
Great memories (clouded slightly by many beers). Saw them too many times to count. Night Gallery,Haymakers, B. Ginnings, Monopoly, Thirsty Whale, etc. Always put on a good show. Cliff and his goofy shorts!
Wow, I'm choked up, This is such a cool recording and video. I too saw them about a dozen times..I'm not kidding, Haymakers, Monopoly in Palatine , Rocket North just north of Antioch on Rte.83, Studio One in Downers Grove on Ogden road, B'Ginnings, Hammond Civic Center (old school gym) with Cheap Trick, I could go on and on, I'm so fortunate to have grown up in the era that I did and to see all the bands that I did with my friends especially my friends from Schwinn Sales Midwest, EGV. (Suave, Slink, Len, etc.) This does bring a tear to my eyes, Thanks so very, very ,very much for posting
Anyone that was lucky enough, to see them in their prime, wondered why they weren't bigger nationally.Classic example of poor management.HOOKS are astounding.
Have loved this band since first hearing them in 1982. Finally got to see them live for the first and only time opening for Cheap Trick in 1995 in Cedar Rapids outdoors Such good music - Cliff's vocals are one of a kind!
Reminds me of the Haymakers in Prospect Heights Illinois where i saw them a few times, along with many other venues! What a great treasure this video is, thanks so much for posting.
Donna, thanks for posting this rare footage! I was a huge fan of OB back then & eventually became friends with John Pazdan....your guy John Ivan is one of my favorite guitarists ever!! Please post more of John & best, Chuck!!
thanks! Didn't know this existed. Audio is incredible. When a band plays great music and knows it and can recreate the album experience on stage without a lot of extra crap... just great showmanship and play like they know they're good - I love those types of bands, performances and music. The best ones I've seen like that that are so fun to see live are Cheap Trick, Off Broadway and Bush. Thanks for posting.
This video captures Off Broadway at their best. John Ivan plays a different guitar for every song. The next thing that needs to be uploaded is the unreleased third Off Broadway album produced by Rick Nielsen from 1981.
Hello again....Question: Donna, are you John's wife or sister?? If so, tell John Hi. Him, Cliff, Sal and John Pazden played at my BBQ/ Wife's 60 th. B-Day party July 2015. Haven't forgot about John though, definitely need to get out and see him play at his solo gigs in DuPage county. Take care and thanks for posting this precious video.
Yes George, John Ivan gave me and my friend a generic type copy of it a few years ago, You can see Cliff play in the Chicagoland with his band called The Raine and John plays at various lounges in DuPage county and I believe he is a music teacher as well, Type The Raine on FB and go to Ivan's website
@@georgea2527 Off Broadway as a band was just Magic! I have one too up here in the Appleton, WI area. It has the song they played for Old Style beer on it. Saw them as Off Broadway and Black and Blonde a few times. The good old days!
I nominate Off Broadway for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Seen them with Cheap Trick at Notre Dame ACC.center during their debut tour that band rocked and so did Cheap Trick!!

Greatest live band my brothers and I ever saw.....Alley and Haymakers over and over
This was a great to have been at. Upstairs on the balcony rail, best seats in the house. They always killed at Studio One!

Fun to see the mighty OB in their heyday-- you can see the transition from 70's to 80's rock here--
Reminds me of the Haymakers in Prospect Heights Illinois where i saw them a few times, along with many other venues! What a great treasure this video is, thanks so much for posting.
