I am that type of friend and I desperately want my friends to be like that. Sad thing is, people ask for honesty, but when you give it to them, even in the most polite and sensitive to their feelings type of way, they don't like it.

People who are really into what they do, have so much that they quite literally sleep, breathe and eat with their passion.
A good comparison would be a doctor.
Would you go to the one that seldom talks about his field, or would you go to the one who is surrounded by what he does, systematically upgrades his knowledge, seeks new ways to make things better, and possibly tries to make health more affordable for people; the one who can not hold all to himself.
Besides, the downside of informational speed is that educational material that once was only available for money, eventually becomes free on the internet, so that's really a matter of time.
Competition is super high on the internet.

I'm such an introvert I don't even have 5 friends, not feeling sorry for myself. I prefer deep, quality connections over having plenty of shallow friendships. Plus I don't have the time to invest in that many people. But I do need to network more for sure.

If you have a physician as a friend or acquaintance you can ask for advice anytime, just keep in mind that your question might not be within her specialty. But please never casually ask for a prescription. I prefer to give prescriptions only to people who I have examined properly in my office.

Same with lawyers! There are really specific rules and they can’t offer legal advice without the person becoming their client, however, everybody asks them still. It must be so annoying and hard to refuse all the time!

I'm a doctor and all my friends are physicians. We all have different fields in our medical practice. But I believe this kind of group can also stagnate you especially if you talk about the same things all the time. It really is better to reach out and network - engage with other people with different professions that can help you grow socially, professionally and intellectually. I really like this video. I feel like most people in the US are looking for replicas of themselves rather than for a beautiful mix of friends like Anna is describing.
Since i moved here, I've been trying to have a mix of friends like this but people don't appreciate diversity in personality very much. Idk why

I also moved to US a couple of years ago and have the same issue. Other thing is that many times people stick with only their childhood friends and dont open to new adult friendships

Hi Jocelyn. You have a point. I don't have friends in general, I only consider people as acquintances. But the main reason why is because I haven't found a group of women that can fit in to what I expect. I choose carefully who I let in my life because I don't want to invest on people who will waste my valuable time.

It's really wierd but I have zero friends right now(unless you count my parents). Ever since schools have shut down, it's become difficult to even have minor social interactions. Can't wait to meet like minded ladies through your platform, Anna! I know it's going to be wonderful ❤️

I can relate to this so much. The irony is that I genuinely crave true female friendships. Due to the COVID restrictions in my country, I realized how difficult it is to be alone. At times, I speak with my family and two best friends I had made in university (they live in different cities now) but it's not the same

I just made a comment about this! Go for it! Just talk to someone doing what you like to do and if they don't respond to you in the way you need keep going at! You'll find friends and start a group chat with them so all of you can support each other. Were not all B.... out there!

What I love the most about your videos is that you present solutions for every problem. Sometimes I become lazy with my leveling up and I come up with some excuses (they may be valid). But as you always say there's a solution for it. If it's a mental state seek therapy, if it's a social interaction problem find lessons or coaching about it (at worst). If it's a physical trait and can be changed within reason change it.
Then there's no excuse anymore. And that's the biggest thing I learned from you ❤️

i must admit that even thu i have already leveled up tremendously from where i started-it does, at the moment feels as a bit of a lonely journey as most of my friends don't seem to be so interested in the finer things in life as i am or even if they are, they seem to be very passive rather than proactive.

(Fantastic color on you.) I had a social butterfly friend in high school. I was terribly shy so I would drive and she would hang out the window whistling at the boys. I wouldn't say she had a poor reputation, but her goals were far less than mine so when I went on to college we lost track and I learned later that life turned out badly for her. I would underscore the points made here. I'm in an industry now that is somewhat unusual, highly competitive, and keeps me in Los Angeles part of the year. I also feel like I've hit a wall professionally. I may follow her seminars to see if I can get past that.
This is brilliant. A few of these things I implicitly knew, but wow this is wonderful. I feel especially blessed to be seeing this just before I dive into a completely new city. :-) I need new friends and am building a new network! Your videos are making me excited. :-)

After watching this video, I'm feeling so well-endowed with terrific friends! (There's a little bit of a vacuum in the business friend department but I'd say that role is for now being collectively filled by a male friend and his partner).
