    • Norm Abrams foresaw the shortage of skilled tradespeople decades ago and dedicated his life to attracting young people to the trades through television and apprenticeship programs. Growing up under his father's tutelage in Milford, Massachusetts, Abrams developed a passion for carpentry, eventually leading him to drop out of college to pursue it full-time.
    • In 1979, after starting his own firm, Integrated Structures Inc., Abrams' craftsmanship caught the attention of Russel Morash, who enlisted him for the first episode of “This Old House.” Abrams' ability to simplify complex concepts for viewers earned him a permanent spot on the show, leading to numerous awards over his career.
    • Abrams hosted “The New Yankee Workshop” for 21 years, focusing on furniture creation and providing viewers with detailed instructions and drawings for DIY projects. He retired in 2022 after impacting over 20 million viewers with more than a thousand episodes of television, restoring over 50 homes.
    • Beyond television, Abrams authored eight books on carpentry and contributed to publications by the “This Old House” franchise. He also supported the “Generation Next” initiative with Mike Rowe, raising funds for scholarships to encourage young people to pursue trades without incurring debt.
    • With an estimated net worth of $2.5 million as of mid-2023, Abrams' wealth is modest compared to other TV stars, but his legacy in promoting skilled trades and carpentry through television, books, and philanthropy is invaluable.

Norm has done more than contribute to the trades people! He has shown, that any project can be done, no matter what the skill level of the person doing it! I watched every one of his shows, and he inspired a computer geek, that even I could build furniture! :-) Enjoy your retirement!
