More accurate in 3 minutes than the entirety of what the BBC just spat out for The Watch. Well done everyone involved!
Hahaha thank you, however if compared to "the watch", the standards there are quite low 😅
@@JannyKey007 quite an exeptional series of videos anyway
@@JannyKey007 I disagree it just depends on which 'standards' you are measuring by
I enjoyed The Watch.
Apply to the British film foundation, lobby Rhianna Pratchett, this needs and deserves to be made feature length ,excellent work, well done .
meanwhile, "The Watch" got funded yet this fades into obscurity...
I will say the watch is muck. But funded by BBC America. Americans don't understand this stuff
This is a university project on your own budget?
Well done this. Well done.
you need a larger budget cause I need to watch the rest of this
This is brilliant. Perfect actors for Mort and Ysabelle. Loved Death's eyes.
Just found this randomly. Love this. Mort is one of my favorite Discworld novels. In college I also got people together to make some Discworld fan stuff, and did a play based on the first few chapters of Going Postal.
Great work! It's always fun to see Terry Pratchett's work adapted for a video format!
Not bad, not bad at all - on the contrary, actually... :)
I agree with those that say this could very well be turned into a full adaptation of the book, based on Mort and Ysabel's performance here alone.
The love is just EVERYWHERE AAAHH Absolutely phenomenal
And the framed pictures I cackled with glee!! The details the set up absolutely wonderful! Thank you for creating and sharing this!!
Oooh thanks 😊
This is really well done. You both got the characteristics down so well.
... this Wasn't put out by the BBC??
amazing! if it hadn't been for the brevity, i honestly thought it was a totally "professional" piece of work.
i do hope to see your names in future works actually being put out with the Actual original films already available on the BBC.
with this calibre of work, i hardly doubt it will take long to get there if you so choose.
Thank you so much for the high praise!
Nice! It was a pleasure to watch.
Wonderful!!! I'm so sad this never saw full length film
Oh Ysabell you tsundere….
Wow. This is excellent.
Very well done :)
Good.
СУПЕР!!! Надеюсь, продолжение следует?;)
loved it. A huge amount of work, attention to the book and carefully selection of cast.. This one is crying out for crowdfunding.. an independent director with efforts to be true to the books is the only way anybody will take Pratchett from book to film. I feel Terrys work Needs that internal narrator just like the books - it worked for `hitchhikers' but you need the right narrator.
Oooh thanks so much! Yeah I agree, if it was a whole film, narration would work well
A very Zen clip.
all knees and elbows
Quite: but he isn't, is he? That's what I mean about the miscasting.
Where is this from please.? Never heard of an adaption of Mort . And is there a Full version ?
This is my final year university project, all the videos we shot are on my channel :)
Learn about Time and space, is he a Time Lord ? :)
More like a death lord but he is a Grandfather and he does have a Susan for a grandchild
@@Reprodestruxion Not yet.
Joe Turner spoilers!!!!
@@Reprodestruxion Sorry.
Is this a fan made film?
It was my uni project
JannyKey007 cool. Pretty darn good.
JannyKey007 you did an amazing job
What happened to Ysabell's silver hair and Mort's pale white complexion????????????????
Hello there! Question for you - have you ever tried to make a movie with your college mates and on your own budget? It's quite hard to keep all the details there, you know. Plus, if the actors are good, and I hope you will not argue with that, does it really matter? Both of my awesome actors are huge fans of Sir Terry's work and they know and understand the characters well! And last, but not least - I am the director, I see it this way.
What I am saying is, if the actors are that good, then it's even more shame not to have kept to the visual descriptions of the characters. The "budget-excuse" is invalid, when it's a matter of a few bucks' worth of white face paint and a novelty Halloween silver wig. There WILL be people, who'd rather see a character that looks "right" but plays so-so, than an excellent performance by someone who may seem like another version of Jane Eyre.
There "WILL" always be people who want certain things in a certain way. But what struck me as really interesting is someone pointing out a minor detail about something in one of Pratchett's books, who would then use that - "????????????????" - many (16) punctuation marks *cough* Maskerade *cough* even while doing so.
Is that the depth of your analysis: being struck by counting question marks? In that case you've completely missed the point (for whatever reason). When one looks at Ysabell and sees a "Jane Eyre", it's not a "minor detail in one of Pratchett's books". When the author spends time repeatedly portraying the characters' appearances, it's not a "minor detail" readily dismissed by viewers, nor is it something that should escape the director's attention without expecting a few negative comments in that regard afterwards.
Oh no, I did get your point, I just didn't really care about it other than in the context of the punctuation marks. So I do understand that there are people for whom this isn't a minor detail, although it is very likely that Pratchett wouldn't really care about these things either - just google "Mort Soul Music" and see how "pale" he was depicted in that and there are probably more examples to be found, where Pratchett had a say in the matter, if one wanted to put the effort into it (especially when looking at how much Pratchett changed in the books if it was fitting for him, Equal Rites in context of his later works being probably one of the best examples for this). But whether it was a minor detail or not doesn't even matter in regards to what amused me about it, that a remark about something from a Pratchett book would have that many punctuation marks:
“And all those exclamation marks, you notice? Five? A sure sign of someone who wears his underpants on his head.”
(Terry Pratchett, Maskerade)
... as I don't think that remark can be solely applied to exclamation marks :) . So no deep "analysis" was being attempted and no point missed, just lack of interest about these aspects of your comments. But I hope you enjoyed making them.
Once again a lead character was supposed to be chubby and is thin. Sigh. I will enjoy it immensely anyway.
You mean Ysabel? True, however the amount of time I had for casting was bery limited and in the end the casting choises were made based on the quality of acting. Georgie who is playing Ysabel was absolutely fantastic the whole time so I have no regrets here
Dreadfully miscast, awful over-acting. What were they thinking of, to release this?
Em... hi! this is my uni project and the majority of the cast were fans of Sir Terry's amazing works, helping me out for free.
Plus, read up some comments, yours is so far the harshest if I recall correctly, this is pretty old. Be kinder to people, man, I think most of the cast were great, still pretty proud of this
