Sagoo Aplon - Mauritian Style Sagoo with Papadums

  • Ingredients (For 8 servings):
    ½ Cup Sago (Sagoo)
    5 Tablespoons Sugar
    1 Teaspoon Ghee
    1 Tablespoon Green Mung Bean (dal zemberik)
    2 Tablespoons Freshly Grated Coconut
    1 Tablespoon Dried Raisins
    4 Almonds
    ¼ Teaspoon Cardamom Powder
    ¼ Teaspoon Ginger Powder

    Sagoo Aplon is the Mauritian style of sago that is served with papadums. It is often served at the end of our traditional South Indian meal and is a pure delight. The sweetness and creaminess of the sagoo is well balanced by the savoury crunch of the papadums.
    My recipe is adapted from a traditional recipe shared on Top TV Mauritius. I have omitted milk and vermicelli in my recipe. Plus I've used ghee instead of butter. Link to the video is as follows : • Video
